I don't know if Calzaghe could get down to 164 pounds. He's been pushing it as it is at 168, so he may be really weight drained.

If this took place at 168, I'd go with Calzaghe UD

Calzaghe could never make 164, only a very young could. Calzaghe's physical peak was 2000-2004, which even then he was struggling to make 168.

So at 164, Hagler by KO.

It'd be no issue for a big MW like Marvin to jump to 168, or even 175 for that matter and I agree with you on Calzaghe UD.

I'll take 116-112 personally, Hagler's pressure will not work and he'll be eating too many shots, even though they have no effect on that titanium jaw and then he'll start timing and sharp shooting right hands and take about 4 rounds between mid and late and Calzaghe will rally for the last 2.

Is that about right by your estimation Brooklyn?

Hagler probably would admit Joe wins (or think it) I believe he is a fan.

Didn't Calzaghe weight in at 166 for the kessler fight.Would 2 pound really make that difference?

I think over 12 round Calzaghe just nicks it.But over 15 rounds I'd give the edge to Hagler but I don't think he stops Calzaghe.

Id go with Calzaghe via 2-3 points. Some posters on here who are biased in favour of retired fighters from the past and don't appreciate active greats will pick Hagler no doubt.

He was 167 which was probably the most he could get down to. Anything less than that, especially 3 pounds, and it could make the difference between a healthy Calzaghe and a weight drained one. And if he was weight drained, it would have an impact on his stamina, energy, and punch resistance.

Perhaps it could have been done at 166

calzaghe doesn't do tough fights for a good reason, it keeps him unbeaten.

Honestly, anybody who says Slappy Joe should be banned.

The Hagler from the Minter fight could move up in weight, and beat the Hell outta Joe.

Joe's slaps would have ZERO effect on Hagler. Whereas Marvin's sharp, accurate counters would eventually take their toll on Joe.

    Hagler TKO 11.

I admire Calzaghe but seriously ? He was rocked and dropped ny Hopkins and a 40 year old Roy Jones wrist .. a prime Hagler destroys him.

yeah why people pick calzaghe who only beat a good prime world level fighter once in twenty years, but haggler who beat one every other fight.

    bit mental these cal nuthuggers.

leonards punches barely had effect on hagler, and he was pitter patting and running all night, he still got the decision. calzaghae could do the same and infact he wouldnt run as much as leonard did, hes quicker handed than hagler and elusive. :bbb
