No, Leonard certainly hurt Hearns in the rematch. He just didn't drop or stop him but he rocked him quite a bit, I recall Hearns actually looked to be on his way out in the one sided final round. Been a few years since I've seen this one.
I wouldn't even insult Calzaghe by mentioning him in the same breath as Tommy Hearns ( household name or not ). Benn would almost decapitate Tommy, at any time he liked and with either hand, particularly if he himself was hurt. Benn hit a f$%&£*g lot harder than anything Hagler could dream up. It would be like McClellan all over again, but with only a tenth of the punishment required until Hearns was asleep before he hit the canvas. And Benn would have no chance against the Welshman. After they worked together Benn was quoted as saying. " Yeah, Joe slaps, but you try taking 60 plus of them every round and see how you like it."
That's extreme. Hearns is an all time great Welter/Light Middleweight. He was still successful and capable of greatness in higher weight classes later in his career depending on the matchup, Hill for instance was an outstanding win. I don't think he would have the stamina to beat Calzaghe at Super Middle or Light Heavy though.
Leaving myself to be exposed? you do realize that Hearns and Calzaghe never fought right? lol which means that all we can do is debate over who we would believe to win such a match up. How can you claim I know nothing about the power of one fighter and the chin of another? at no point have I claimed anything extreme about Calzaghe and its obvious he had a good chin, as its also obvious that Hearns is one of the greats in terms of power. He knocked the **** out of iron chinned Duran. You claim I haven't got a clue what I'm talking about because I disagree with you? and then you start getting worked up about it? How were my statements stupid? Did I at any point even comment on Calzaghe's chin? Do you not agree that Hearns had incredible punching power? I apologize if somehow me picking my choice for who would win out of the two has upset you as it's pretty obvious your feeling get hurt if anyone doesn't have the same opinion as you on a fighter.
Duran had an excellent chin. To be honest it's getting painfully obvious that you are some type of Calzaghe nuthugger, well either that or you have alot of hatred for Hearns... ' scrawny tosser like Hearns ' and that pretty much proves it. You are getting all worked up over it haha. You are very pathetic my man. I'm not gonna bother coming into this thread again because I genuinely feel like my brain cells are dying as I try to engage in a debate with you. Plus other posters comments on you seem to agree with my belief that you are completely clueless. Goodbye, I hope you are finding your Mother's basement comfortable :hi:
If you want extreme my friend, just look at the pure **** some of your fellow Muricans write about Joe Calzaghe. One can only assume they are inbred filth from Arkansas, by the vitriol that emanates from their keyboards. All the guy ever did was retire 46 - 0. That seems to really upset a lot of fvcking Yanks.
And the biggest names contained in the list of 46? (there's about 4 topflight names on there I'd say) well, 3 of them were well past their best. That leaves 1 topflight name on his record :hi:
joe has some advantages, he could get a decision. Joe was dropped a couple of times early, if this happens it could bring out the aggression in hagler who may well be able to pour it on and get a tko. Not saying thats the most likely scenario, but it is one possiblity
Joe was good but his resume contains only a handful of ATG opponents each of which were way way way past their respective prime. Duran was known to have an excellent defense as well as an excellent chin. 120 bouts and only Hearns one of boxings all time punchers ever really stopped him.
