Do you even know why Dennis Andries ended up at the Kronk Gym? Please allow me to tell you. It was because Dennis was so inherently bad, no British trainer wanted to be part of his humiliation any longer. He was told " You are a brave, strong guy, but you are not cut out to be a fighter. You will end up getting hurt. You are too brave for your own good " Then along came the money grabbing Manny Steward.
Calzage was already in his late 30's when he moved up to light heavyweight, Hearns fought his best fights from 147-154, I would not put Andrade with the elite, Tommy still had power at any weight but more then likely this fight would be fought south of 168lbs and I like Joe's speed and movement, not to say Tommy has no chance but i think Joe's work rate gets him the UD or a late stop but dont trade with Tommy if you dont have to
Exactly, I think Hearns was the P4P superior fighter...but at WW and LMW. Hearns becomes very vulnerable at MW and over, especially against a tough volume puncher with a motor like Calzaghe.
Hearns kayos Joe in 3 rounds. Hagler brutalizes him, too. Joe is not in their class; nor are Watson, Benn or Eubank. It's about fighters on different levels. Joe was very good, not all time great. This showed against Hopkins and Jones.
What class? If you even dream Hearns hit as hard as Benn, wake up and apologise. Hagler never, ever got in a ring with someone who could punch like Benn. Hagler was only ever good fighting nothing special Middleweights, or pumped up smaller guys who were very good at their NATURAL weights. Eubank would just laugh at Hearns, or Haglers punches, in much the same way he laughed at Benn's who fvcked the so called big punching McClellan. ( and Benn had no chin worth talking about ) Eubank has been in with real punchers like Thompson at Cruiser who stopped Haye, but couldn't put Eubank on wobbly legs, never mind drop him. If anyone seriously thinks Haglers punches would bother Eubank they need to go and see a doctor. As for Calzaghe and his fights with Hopkins the coward and Jones the wanker, don't look for sympathy. Both signed the contracts, and both entered the ring thinking they would win. It is hardly Joe's fault that Hopkins fought like a worm, going down from legal blows and begging Cortez to win the fight for him. And as for the other fool. Hiding behind his guard, and allowing Calzaghe to rest his nose on his gloves and then slap him around the back of said guard only shows how less than ordinary he became when the reflexes no longer worked.
The only **** takers are the ******s who try to equate p4p status with h2h. Personally I don't give a **** what Hearns and Hagler were as WW, LM, and MW fighters. They ain't beating any " excellent " naturally bigger guys.
I strongly suspect a prime Hagler lays a 12 or 15 round beating on a prime Joe Calzaghe despite being 'only' a middleweight
I under strongly trying to make a point but do you even try to base your posts on fact ? Hagler fought monster punchers his whole career Hart, Briscoe, Monroe, Hearns, Sibson, Mugabi, Roldan are you serious ?
Do you seriously believe any of those fighters you mention hit as hard as Benn? If so you either live on a different planet, or have never seen Benn fight. Don't confuse class with power. For instance Benn was the only man to knockout Robbie Simms, and I mean KO him, not TKO. The same Simms that up until Benn had been the only man to have stopped Barkley, whom Benn dispatched in a round. So spare me your list of names that you " think " hit as hard as Benn. Again Hagler never ever faced a guy that hit as hard as Benn.
Several of those guys hit harder than Benn and would have KO'd him because most had better chins than Benn. Anyone that's been KO'd by a jab ain't a coming within a million miles of beating Hagler :deal
