Second, when we talk " bigger" in boxing, Cyril, we are NOT taking height.

If height were the determinant, then Paul Williams would have been bigger than Mike Tyson as he was three inches taller.

And Ryan Garcia would be bigger than Canelo as he is a couple of inches taller.

So 5' 9'' and 5' 10" don't count when deciding who is bigger.

There are no height divisions, but there are weight divisions.

Both Hagler and Golovkin fought at Middleweight.

But in Hagler's day, they had same day weigh-in.

In Golovkins, boxers weighed in the previous day, allowing them an extra day to rehydrate, and come into the ring heavier than earlier middleweights.

Marvin came into the ring around 163 - 165,
GGG at 173 -175.

I did mention that I favoured Hagler to win, but based on him having an edge in skill.

Both men had iron chins and top shelf power.

IMO, it would have been a good, close fight that would probably have gone the distance.

The highest recorded fight night weight for a middleweight title defense was 173lbs. He was mostly 170lbs or less.

Point was, Middle weight fighters are slightly bigger when weigh-ins are the previous day.

You get fighters who would have been fighting at 168 in the same-day weigh-in era, now making 160.

So today's MWs are slightly bigger than Hagler as when he was at MW.

I didn't like Ray Leonard at all. But I will say this about him now and over the many years as of late, I have actually learned to like him and respect him so much more now because I believe he learned about humility. The best example that comes to mind is that he really goes out of his way EVERY interview to give Hearns the credit he deserves for winning their 2nd fight.. I think he has an appreciation for Hearns, Duran, and Marv.. because they were all able to continue to fight and have very active careers while he was not ... And I really have no reason not to believe Ray what he says about the Hagler fight because Ray and Mike were always looking for an angle and the Hagler fight wasn't any different imo , as he clearly explains in his interviews

When Ray was younger he was a complete diva and honestly not too many people liked or got along with him but as he has gotten older he has seemed to learn humility.
But man when he was younger he was a jerk especially when the cameras were not around.
