He hadn't lost a round in his pro career before he stepped up his opposition and then he suddenly seemed to slow down and appear one dimensional because of aging or so his fans would have you believe.
He was down against Brook before the stoppage so don't know where you've got that from? You don't believe age has an effect on fighters? Ok we will leave it at that.
I was including Brook in a higher level of opposition for Triple Hype. Of course age has an effect but come on, even a fan of Triple Hype must admit that it's one hell of a coincidence that he seemed to start 'aging' (losing rounds, getting hit more etc.) as soon as he stepped up his opposition.
Are we talking same day weigh-in here or the day before? But even the day before I lean towards Hagler, even though GGG would have the size, since he's more versatile. He loved come forward types as well. It would be tough, though. A GGG win is definitely not out of the question. He has a great jab and if he could establish that it would be up-hill for Hagler. Marvin had a fantastic jab of his own, though. But Golovkin for me isn't an easy night for any MW ever. Whether you box him or slug him he's going to give you a hard, hard nights work.
LOL, no I didn't. They were a level below Canelo, Jacobs and possibly Brook, never said they were poor.
It is very hard to say how good Brook was at MW, but I did think it was quite clear he showed GGG a skill level above what he was used to.
Could happen, he certainly has the power to if he connects well, but I wouldn't be too certain. But it's about style as well. GGG is going eat limited punchers for breakfast every day of the week. Clever boxers, though, give him more think about. That's what the fight with Brook seemed to suggest and it has since been seemingly corroborated by Jacobs and Canelo. But they also brought physicality to the table.
Jacobs and Canelo are both top-shelf operators. I'll admit I had some doubts about them in some aspects before, but not any more. People just don't seem to realise how stacked MW is nowadays.
Yeah, in GGG:s defense, we might look back on his close fights with Canelo and Jacobs as a 35-36 year old giving as good at least as he got from two really, really good fighters. My guess is be that Canelo loses to Saunders if they ever meet, though, and I don't think Jacobs will stay at MW for much longer. The guy is ****ing huge and it must be taxing to drain 20+ lbs for every fight.
