Leonard wanted no part of Hagler till he saw Duran go the distance, then when he saw how much Hagler had slipped and the punishment he took against Mugabi Ray was emboldened. I stick by cowered
Well, I would say that GGG could likely give a good account of himself against any middle weight ever. Even if he loses. In fact, most dominant champions of any weight class would likely give good accounts of themselves against other champions of the same weight classes. Holmes competition was mercilessly mocked by the press. They were saying that it was easy to look so good against such bad competition. Yet, many on here think that it's a realistic proposition that he'd beat a prime Ali. And even if you think Holmes would lose, very few would predict him losing in a one sided domination of a fight. And I think that the same could be said regarding GGG against other Middle weight champions.
But we wouldn't say there isn't much between Jones and Tarver based on their first fight. That was a prime Tarver and a past his prime Jones. If a passed his prime fighter holds his own, or wins against a prime fighter, I'd say there is something between them imo
True but i am talking about the fight they had and how they stand right now. I don't think GGG is near as bad as Jones suddenly got but he's aging for sure. Much different fighters in that GGG definitely hasn't lost any durability and doesn't rely on god given reflexes etc like Jones. Canelo might improve a bit yet too maybe? He certainly learnt from the first fight.
How can a guy who could not beat a former Light Middleweight in Canelo match up to Marvelous Marvin. Does not bear thinking about really.
160 pound middleweight champion GGG is a freak of nature . He has sparred with top 10 light heavyweights who have said that he hits as hard as anyone they faced . GGG has a granite chin, and although GGG can and has been hit , it's his bone fracturing cannon that wins.
