I am one of the few that thinks this fight is overrated and boring. I want fights to be longer than 3 rounds and it wasn't very interesting to me. I prefer some of the fights that Thread Stealer posted over this fight.

Hagler Hearns was the best fight ever. Unbelievable courage and skill exhibited by both legends. I still cannot believe they went at it like they did. The war benefitted Hagler more since he was the natural middleweight.

you are probably a young person who hardly knows who Hagler and Hearns are and wishes that Floyd Mayweather would ever have the guts to fight this kind of fight. Keep wishing. This was an unbelievable fight between the two top guys in boxing. The best first round and round ever and the best short fight ever-easily. Anyone who discounts this is jealous of a better era.

No two fighters can fight the round one like they had and last more than 3 rounds. They did not pace themselves at all. Supreme confidence. They fought an unheard of pace. The fact that Hearns broke his hand and Marvin had a bad cut shows the intensity of the fight.

Hearns and Hagler connected more and often. That was a good fight, but Benn could not have taken 5 clean punches from Barkley. Benn was almost out with a decent left counter from Barkley.

It could not have lasted much longer at that pace. Fights do not start that fast ever anyway, so I don't think it would have lasted long at all. As a matter of fact Angelo Dundee said he was surprised it lasted out of the first round at that pace.

    The fight was trash.

Hearns didnt give himself a chance to win by fighting like this.

How can I call a fight great when one boxer fights stupidly and goes out in 3 rounds?

There is a reason it was a short fight. Its cause it was a stupid fight.

Fighting with heart and commitment is considered stupid? Tommy thought he could win. That was part of the intrigue. Hearns thought his right hand would stop Hagler. He had total confidence and so did Hagler and they fought with skill and heart and the fight was great. Leonard and Hearns and Hagler and Duran (along with Tyson and Holmes) were the reasons for the 1980's being as great as it was.

It's the best 3 round war I have ever seen, so it has my vote.

A fight that goes the distance is also fought with heart and commitment is it not?

Hearns has never been known for his chin. Leaving himself wide open for Hagler was completely foolish.

Im glad for Hearns that he thought his right hand would take out Hagler. Why should he think his right hand would get him out of there in 1 round? Was there anything in Hagler's career that showed this kind of vulnerability? Of course not.

Hearns fought stupidly and that ruined the fight for me.
