I agree with theodore on this one,its haglers work rate that may be crucial in this match, not his alleged physical strength.
Both men at their best are cagey box punchers with hagler having a higher workrate and hopkins has the edge in size. I think hopkins can outbox and outfox hagler technically with lateral movement and keep things at long range with his height/reach. Conversely, hagler may realise this and adopt to use his workrate and punching prowess to pressure hopkins and pile up the points.
Both men are very durable and can go 15,no knockdowns or stoppages here.
Hopkins can deal with southpaws very well, while hagler likes to fight taller men. I find this one impossible to call as i can see hopkins out pointing hagler with smarts, but i could also see hopkins being trigger shy if hagler lets his bombs and work rate fly.
I will just say that the winner will take a 15 round decision....
Splinters in my arse from sitting on the fence.....
Prime calzaghe beats both by the way.....

Prime Hopkins easily matched Hagler's workrate.

Maybe senya, but i got the feeling that against strong opposition he was more cagey and took less risks thus diminshing his workrate. I feel if hopkins were to win it would be his ring smarts and not his workrate that would do it for him.

Only over the first 6 rounds against Trinidad would I call his work cautious.

    You'll rumble well.

Hearns had the ability to knock out anyone, Hagler or not. I don't think he could have here as he simply tired too fast and too markedly to gather enough force and test the idea out. His legs were gone as early as the start of the second round, weird. Steward blames the leg massage, but i like to steer clear of such debatable stuff. Indeed it was a holocaust in there, lots of blows given and taken in the blink of an eye.

Hagler was definitely hurt, and contrary to popular myth has indeed had to fight thru occasions where he didn't even know what his name was, let alone the round. They're all human.

Well the broken hand and leg massage are often talking points of this fight. Just because the two points don't fall on your hero's :bowdown side it's not as if there's a ban on mentioning them.
