I agree with this. Hopkins usually gets the better of opponents by using the rough stuff but vs MMH he would be in with a guy who was as rough & tough & skillfull & determined as they can come at 160 lbs. It wouldnt be easy but I think Hagler`s strength inside wins in the end.
They both were so complete at their best that it's hard to call. I think Hopkins' edges Hagler in footwork, defense, counterpunching, and his height and reach will help him, Hagler hit harder and had the better jab. Personally, I see the advantages that Hopkins holds will mean more in a prime for prime fight than those that Hagler has. Also, I see Hopkins as the overall better ring general, a bit better at controlling range and possibly pace. Very close either way, and given that Hagler would more than likely be aggressive, that could swing it his way, but I personally lean towards hopkins. No one is going to get flat out beat in this fight, both were overall too complete at their best for that to happen.
Hagler would land flush just as often as Hopkins would. Hagler in his prime was an excellent boxer-puncher as well, with excellent ring movement and countering skills of his own. You've mosty likely only seen the latter version of Hagler whose style changed up due to deteriorating physical ability.
Hopkins made 160 for 14 years and very often weighed in under the limit, he hardly ever rehydrated over 164 during his middleweight reign according to HBO's unofficial weigh-ins I believe. Hopkins was a big middleweight with his frame, but he was a true middleweight. But yes, he is bigger than Hagler, although apart from height and reach, I don't see that as playing a big role.
Yep very true BUT this is BOXING anything can happen!!! But yeah i agree dont see nobody getting stop.
