Hagler vs SRR at MW. Who do you favor over SRR at MW?

    I think RJJ could arguably be favored over him. Hagler and Leonard both have chances and good ones. Monzon would...I Know I'm forgetting some others....

    The Jr. Middlewight Division didn't exist in that late 40's - early 50's that era you are talking about....and a lot of welters fought those over the WW limit type fights.

    Kid Gavilan in November 1953 was at 146 lbs, and 3 months later he was 156 lbs for the Cunningham fight, then one month later with the Bobo Olsen MW shot in April he is 155, and then back down to 145 lbs 7 months later in a title defense in October against Johnny Saxton (a loss), in which the fight may have been fixed against Gavilan.

    1953-11-13 : Kid Gavilan 146 lbs beat Johnny Bratton 145½ lbs by UD in round 15 of 15
    World Welterweight Title
    • Bratton suffered a severe whipping and reportedly would have been justified in giving up the fight after twelve rounds.
