You think Margarito will only land an odd shot here and there? Ok, I see a completely different fight. Margarito is going to land a tremendous number of punches. Why? Because virtually every one of Cotto's opponents have landed at high connect rates. Cotto is easy to hit. Period. Margarito, BTW, may look sloppy, but his punches have a very funny way of hitting the target. You said that Cotto's scoring punches are going to cut down Margarito's output, again, I disagree. Hitting Margarito clean and often only seems to raise his workrate, if anything.
Williams and Clottey had him punching half as much, Clottey especially before he gassed/injured the hand. Cotto's punches are thrown with greater precision and are harder/more punishing than both of those guys, who made Margarito look ordinary, like he is.
One thing is for sure, if Margarito loses he's done. His reputation will be sealed forever as tough B level fighter. And you won't get any arguments from me. This is Margarito's perhaps last and only gasp for stardom.
Margo might take a couple to land one, but he is bigger, stronger and more durable. He has a good chance. You should not bet on this fight with your frame of mind.
Cotto is done. Usually Teddy is wrong for every fight. They are probably going to trade punches in a war, and Margarito is going to get the best of it with his superior chin / reach, size. I know Margarito can hurt Cotto, I am not so sure of Cotto hurting Tony. Cotto will have to work the body to hurt Margarito, because Margarito has an iron head.
I loved Teddy's last pick, and Brian Kenny flat out laughing at him. Then Brian asked him if he was serious. I never seen Kenny like that. LMAO
I disagree..... If Margarito loses in easy fashion, you may be right, but if he loses a give and take war that has the boxing community buzzing and talking for days, both fighters can actually benefit from it. A loss here does'nt mean either fighter is done.
First, im very surprised so many fans are so damn sure about the fight. Im leaning toward Margarito for the same reasons you do. I can see Cotto outboxing Margarito. That would be no surprise, but i cant see him getting cruising to an easy UD. With his style he always gets tagged and he has a history of getting stunned. My point is guys like Judah, Corley, and the then unexperienced Torres dont have the killer mentality Margarito has. if Cotto gets in these kinds of trouble he did like in mentioned fights, Margarito is the one to finnish the job. He wont let Cotto come back in the fight once he wobbles or floores him. When i compare these two, this fight is a nightmare for Cotto stylewise. All credit to him if he wins, its just i cannot picture that at the moment. As a Cotto fan i would **** my pants, but im neutral in this one, i just want to see a great fight with a clear outcome.:good
Why isn't anyone pointing out the fact that Bert Sugar cursed Margarito? He's just as bad as Teddy with his lousy picks!!
I wonder how far off Dan Rafael will be during his round by round...i think he is by far the worst round by round analyst I have ever witnessed. How did that disgusting no talent land such a juicy gig?
Dead obvious?? With Cotto's questionable punch resistance, I beg to differ. Margarito is the first full-fledged, hard-hitting welterweight who's in his prime that Cotto has gone up against. He will wear him down and knock him out.:yep Margarito TKO 10
