Jim Toney was 226 for Hasbeen Rahman back in July..... I knew that 226 was a one-shot deal....... Toney is great, but also lazy as a trainer...... In truth, Toney should be back down to 215 to 218 as a fit heavyweight..... 230 pounds is still too heavy, however, Fresno Oquendo is a punchless runner who'll still be defensive against a sluggish Jim Toney...... I wanna see this fight......

I thought Peter won that first fight, and I know I am in the minority, but I felt that Toneys punches didnt do anything, Peter landed solid right hands in every round, but it was close regardless, I wouldnt have a problem with a Toney decision.

Anyways, like Freddy Roach said, Toney is one of the greatest natural born fighters ever in the sport, but his downfall was how he lazy he was about training. Never liked to train, never liked to put in the conditioning time.

230 at this stage of his career and at 40 years of age is there or there abouts for Toney.

    Holyfield - 217
    Booker - 227
    Ruiz - 233
    Guinn - 235
    Rahman - 237
    Peter - 233
    Peter - 234
    Batchelder - 229
    Rahman - 226

    And now vs Oquendo....... 230

He'll beat Oquendo tonight. I'm just gutted that Thompson has pulled out because that fight would have been a FAR sterner test than the one he faces tonight.

Toney UD.........or he may suprise us and force a late stoppage.

Toney, even if victorious against Oquendo and another, more known opponent, still won't generate very much interest in seeing him in a title fight.

Too small, and has no power. Noone will give a flying f**k about seeing Toney fight one of the K brothers. One sided thrashing that would be a complete waste of time...........Zzzzzzzzzzz.

I would, however, like to see him fight for the other title.............the one held by Valuev. That might be interesting.............

I think you're very wrong actually, if he gets in the position for a title fight Toney has the big mouth and 'old school' image to get people interested in it. Certainly in the US, and likely elsewhere as well. He'd shoot his mouth off morning noon and night and that always gets interest. Look at the lengths Freddie Roach went to recently to boost the Pacman-DLH buyrate.

How he actually does in those fights is another matter. But in terms of the marketing and profile of a bout, Toney is one of the few personalities that can boost it.

Which is why I want him to beat the dry-as-old-bread Oquendo.

Manny Steward said Toney's style is all wrong for Wladimir Klitschko. He said does not want Toney to face them.

Bull****...your boys the KLIT's have had a couple of years to call out Valuev...still waiting.

Toney doesn't have **** to do with that monster...and besided Toney beat Ruiz first...and Ruiz never will fight him again, and is still crying.

The opponent switch and the split up with his trainer might have hindered Toney to come in below 230.

But there are always excuses and explications with James. I am tired of it. Fact is nobody wants to see James in the 230 pound range anymore. The most disappointing thing is that Goossen did not rescheduled the Toney-Thompson for February. Two vicories like that in a short period of time would IMO propel Toney to yet another title shot. I still have a little hope that Goossen stops playing waiting games and does the right move as Toney is still a hell of a fighter.

230 is a little disappointing, but he's still a class above Fres.
