This is old news. Everyone knows that Arum is pissed with the Williams people for jerking his chain on the Kelly Pavlik fight and pricing themselves out. Williams was never going to fight Pavlik, he would've gotten his ass kicked. It was just a publicity stunt to make him look like he's in the same league with Pavlik without actually having to fight him. Arum's pissed and won't work with those guys anymore. And how is Margarito ducking if Arum never presented his people with the offer? And let's not forget that Margarito's camp is also pissed at team Williams for not giving them an immediate rematch and instead opting to fight Carlos Quintana, which he lost (LOL!). They even petitioned the WBO to try to force a rematch when team Williams wouldn't grant him one. An official copy of that letter was posted on an internet site which will remain unnamed. I guess payback's a ***** now that the shoe is on the other foot. But I do hope they eventually work it out and get the rematch made. Money and pride will ultimately get it done.

There are some reasonable arguments made of why Arum may not want to work with the P.Williams camp, etc. However, an Arum and Williams promoter/camp issue shouldn't have anything to do with Margarito. The fact remains that the only guy to beat Margarito recently is Paul Williams. I believe Margarito should push his promoter to make this fight happen, regardless. If there is any payback to be given, it should be given with his fists in the ring. I honestly don't believe Margarito is scared of Paul Williams, but the whole situation is getting caught up in promoter BS and politics. That shouldn't let him (Margarito) from getting discouraged in making the fight happen. All great champions have avenged their losses, this should be no different.

By the way, the article doesn't necessarily provide evidence that Margarito ducked Paul Williams. It appears Margarito's team wasn't properly informed of what was going on, if the letter is legit.

 

Basically made it clear that he wants Margarito protected well AWAY from Williams forever right there unless they have no other options which is impossible.

That's a straight out NO to a rematch with Williams, one excuse was that Williams had to "WAIT!" to beat a man he already clearly beat and now a new ones comes up and it's because of the Kelly Pavlik fight. Just say you don't want Margarito(your meal ticket right now) anywhere near the man that already beat him.

As expected, the fight will never happen.

 

Sounds to me that Arum has a personal issue with Williams, and not like Margo was "ducking" him.
