Arum probably wanted Pavlik to fight Williams because although he's not a big name, he is a name fighter which 160 is lacking in, and probably figured it would be an easy night for Kelly. On the flipside, Goosen probably had no intention of letting the fight come off because he too knew it would be an easy night for Kelly and wants to protect his fighter, and was simply stacking his deck and generating hype for Williams making it look like he's in the same league with Pavlik and knowing that Arum is going to have to do business with him regardless because of the Margarito situation and the added hype he's creating around his fighter which should generate more revenue. Its only business.

With regards to Margarito and his people, they inquired with Arum about a possible match with Williams just a few days ago when the Mosely negotiations stalled only to be told by Arum that no official offer was ever made from Goosen. Take that how you will, it does suggest that it is something that Magarito and his camp are looking to pursue. You must keep in mind that Margarito and his camp made the first fight against Williams happen despite Arum, who actually tried to sue to stop it. They were able to make it happen because it was a WBO mandatory. So it might be a little trickier now. None of that, however, suggests to me that Margarito is ducking Williams.
