so , i see you are good at comparing a guy who was undefeated, just almost sent an undefeated tommy morrison to the morque, ko'd undefeated damiani as well, fought a war with bert cooper for 12 rounds...holmes dominates mercer coming off that hot streak...but no...its somehow the mercer that fought feregson a year later and 2 years later of the wilson fight...
    doesnt work that way dumbass

i guess buster douglas gets no credit for knocking out mike tyson, since kevin mcbride did it too

you have the mpost flawed logic ive seen in a while :rofl

Sound's like your good at recalling, well, if your so good you can recall Morrison was an overhyped "Green" kid and the great Mercer never won a round before knocking Tommy out, never won a round before knocking Damiani out, Cooper had just been stopped in two by old Foreman and gave Mercer hell.....But Holmes beating Mercer makes him an ATG....

Holmes was already an ATG before beating mercer, that fact that he was an old man who out boxed a younger stronger fighter and he did it with out having to go to war like Morrision, cooper and Damiani did, his boxing skill were just that good, not just good but great.. Keep in mind this was old man Holmes had it been young man Holmes I have no doubt he would have stopped mercer and beat Holiyfield for his title..

Damiani didn't go to war with Mercer! He boxed Mercer's ass off. And Mercer got in a lucky punch after losing every round badly....Combined with his loss to Ferguson, draw with Wlison, and you have just an ok fighter at best...........

did you see damiani face and mercer lip.. mercer could completely see trough his lip. So lets not act like Damiani fight with mercer was a walk in the park because it was not ,, Mercer was a very, very , very tuff mother ****er and he has given Holifield and Lewis more then they could handle.. Lucky punch please !!! Mercer meant to hit Damiani with that punch ..

Holmes made mercer's attribute of being tuff and durable a non factor, especially at for a guy in his mid 40s. Say what you want about mercer, but one thing is for sure he brought it each time he stepped in the ring win or lose.

Holmes showed that he was a very skilled heavy weight and his rain as heavy weight champion was not just fluff, He was the man ..

In any case Damiani , Ferguson or any other mecer opponent with the exception of Holiyfiel would have gotton mopped by Holmes.

The fact that you're trying to discredit fighter, who in his mid 40 was competing with the best heavy weight the 90 had to offer and he was schooling them .. Schooling them!!!!

can you say the same about Holiyfield, Forman or hopkins ? No you can't ..

:smoke I dont think anyone is trying to discredit HOLMES . They are simply shining a light on his era which is suddenly getting grossly overrated . He was the best of his time .The rest is pure speculation . ALL TIME GREAT is a phrase not a measurable accomplisment !:good

Right, No body is trying to say Holmes was a bum. Holmes is an ATG. But he was not "Superman" and his era was not running over with other ATGs, the 80's heavyweight division was no better than average, maybe even a little below..........

The early 80s was just just as "crappy" (as some allege) if not worse than today. Now we have two elite level HW fighters. Back in the early 80s we had just one.

If this is a "Wlad nuthugging" thread The Klitschko haters themselves created this environment by constantly compearing the Klitschkos to the safe past. Remember this forum the next day after Wladimir beat Haye? It was full of "Tyson kills last nights Waldimir!"
"cooney sparks the bum Wlad!".....Klitschko haters created this "Moster" by their unwillingness to except Wladimir or Vitali as great, or even "Good" champions. And now they must live with it...............

  11. Most of Holmes opponents were jokes. But he was a Don King controlled fighter so what would you expect?
