That's exactly the way I look at it, as a fraud 5 years in the making. When leonard was doing the commentary during the first hamsho fight saying how he'd like to fight Hagler, I knew he didnt really mean it. That was the fight everyone wanted to see and for that reason, none of us were going to see it. The more I think about the ridiculous timing of his comeback and some of his fights following, including the 1997 Camacho fight, the more it embarasses me as a fight fan

    name me some.

I'll name you two fights Marv didnt do as well as expected -Antuofuermo & Roldan, both of whom were crude brawlers. Dont you remember all the talk about Vito's lack of style, how crude he was? Hagler was much younger then and took Marv to 15 round draw.

Leonard did n't do too badly in that Howard fight, considering he'd been off for two years. He should have carried on.

What do you mean spooked? Spooked over what?

Are you admitting Ray knew he was no match for Hagler at the time? Because if so, it's an unwitting admission from a staunch Leonard supporter that his blueprint could not succeed unless it came against a far slower and impotent version that we saw in 87.
