For ronny yes it's the register. These are ring ratings, at the time when they fought. I've got Liston beating Folley, Machen, Patterson x2, Marshall, Bethea, DeJohn, and Roy Harris. Who else?
Yes that is it; with three defeats (Ali x2) and Marshall. It should also be noted that when Marty and Sonny got it on for the third time, Marshall was not rated.
No Henry Clark rated 9th by RING when he fought Liston Also Williams rated tenth by NBA when he fought Liston the second time
Yes; Boxing Register does not use NBA ratings and it suggests Clark was not a top 10 fighter (at the time).
Ok Here is the evidence Clark was rated 9th by RING https://news.google.com/newspapers?...AIBAJ&sjid=Z-kDAAAAIBAJ&pg=6328,2233341&hl=en
Did you use your time machine to go back to 1968ish, and become a boxing writer, just to make a point? Seriously though, kudos, a good find.
Perfect and this shows the limitations of the method. In the first register Ali was 34-5 and in the second 36-5. I imagine there were a few more slip ups.
TBOOZE: I can believe that, Clark was ranked No.5 6/24/68 by WBA, No. 9 Ring, whom did Boxing Register CONCLUDE THEIR RATINGS BY?
Gavilan had a bizarre career. Senya would be the guy to ask about him but I think he was the opposite of mobbed up; Gavilan almost never won his close calls. It's also possible that people simply didn't like his style. Watch his fight with Billy Graham- in the era that was considered a huge robbery but every modern viewer I've seen has Gavilan winning it clear.
