A quick question regarding Michael Buffer, sometimes, right before he says the infamous 'Lets get ready to rumble' he says something in what i think is mexican, as he only seems to say it when a mexican is involved, and he did it again last night and i'm just wondering if anyone knows what it is he says

I defintely think Reyes would've seen a knockout scored.

Hope El Terrible fights JMM and retires, Maidana is slow and a sloppy finisher, I think a more accurate but less powerful fighter could take him out, despite his incredible grit, toughness and experience.

Marquez would take it out but it's a meaningful fight for both of them. Maybe JMM can use Erik for his first fight @ 140 rather then Morales trying to lose another five pounds.

Marquez will get the job done, and I'd prefer to see Morales fight a fellow legend than run the gauntlet against the tough 140lb division.

When the best fight consistently against good oppositions, you see what flaws they have. Maidana has some glaring flaws, but bar legends and super-conditioned prodigys he should be alright against the rest of the division.

If he can make it (very doubtful IMO) fights with Rios, Soto, or at 135 or 140, Katsidis, seem the most attractive propositions for Maidana now IMO.

Morales gets immense kudos for his performance last night. Despite losing two steps, seemingly losing his dig and being way out of his best weight class, it was his World-class chin and experience that saw him earn a draw against a guy, flawed or not, he shouldn't have lasted a few rounds against.

I just hope people don't start chanting 'El Terrible is back' he can't have too many more fights than that. Narquez means a lot even if he gets bombed put. He clearly wants to face top opposition now, Khan, Bradley and, dare I say it Judah (not 100% but I reckon he'd get Morales out of there at some point) as well as more fights with fringe contenders/dangerman like Holt and Matthyse, are not going to do much for his legacy other than see him soundly beaten. His accuracy was quality last night and he showed flashes of brilliance, but he will not get these opportunities against some of the younger, natural-140lbers that have a decent engine.

I hate to be harsh because last night re-affirmed what a great fighter Morales was, but a 4th fight with Pac? Mayweather? I could even see them lining him up to face the winner of Ortiz-Berto.

One fight makes sense to me and that's JMM. I would love to see Morales go out on a win, but despite giving him one more fight 'because it's him' I'd be happy to see him retire after last night.

If we are looking for fairly risk-free fights for Mirales that kee him ticking over for the inevitable risky swansong, who would everyone suggest? Not a complete journeyman, but not someone likely to give Morales a shellacking? Is it worth him staying at 140 for certain fights or should he make the extra effort and try and make 135?

Thrown a spanner in the works this fight; overjoyed that a legend gave such a good account of himself, but don't want to see him jumping in anything too dangerous (or at least too often)

Erik is a huge fan favourites; when he was rallying against the bigger man and using veterans techniques to survive, I realised he held a Saad-esque place in my heart. A true warrior against the most dangerous of opposition :deal

Just watched it: what a fight! Really gutted for Morales - I scored it for him 115-113 but no complaints with the decision. He gave his all and performed far better than I and most people expected.

 

Just watched Kirkland-Ishida, I don't like to ever write someone off but does anyone else think that Kirkland is done as a top tier fighter, he looked poor in his last fight and he could not handle the hand speed of Ishida at all.

 

I hope he doesn't try and run the gauntlet now. As intelligent as Morales was, he was given massive holes to exploit. His power was maxmised by his opponent walking ont him, his ability to survive made easier by a sloppy finisher.

I just hope this doesn't convince for like, Pac 4 or Floyd @ 147 :rofl Glad to see he's a mate of Canelo or they might try and impose a 150lbs catchweight on Morales as a 'name' ;-)

Can I reiterate how useless and, I hate this term but is fair here, glassy Kirkland looks.

There always were rumours about his chin and yesterday proved them. With his style he cannot avoid getting hit, so I really cannot see him getting back into title contention.

 

Yeah Kirkland was moaning about the stoppage saying he wasn't hurt at all and Ishida had no power :rofl

So he goes down 3 times to a junior middleweight with 6 KOs but it's the ref's fault

Damas y caballeros = Ladies and gentlemen. I was wondering what it was for ages as well (even though I learn/speak Spanish) but I worked it out. His Spanish isn't great, '¿está listos?' (are you ready?) is wrong, it's actually '¿están listos?'

I had that 115-113 Morales, but 116-112 is basically a robbery.

Yep, I felt two of the fights were mismatches.

What I'd like to Guerrero is you have f'n wasted time mate. Still think he looks iffy under pressure, of favour JMM to ge him put of there late. Guerrero would be better off going for another top five fighter not makes Marquez IMO.
