Saturday's hyped 'Superfight' was boring in a way with many many complaints from viewers - a cagey awkward boxing chess match, slow paced with low workrates. But it was teh best i have ever seen Wlad box in terms of clever strategic boxing And it was in a fight with his best h2h opponent to date. Wlad really boxed carefully like a saftey-first brain surgen. Controlling his adversery like a puppet master. I did give Wlad every round of 12. Wlad has a basic defense of just jabbing opponents off balance And leaning hard on them up close, very simple, But v.effective. How does 2011 Hamburg Wlad do VS the 10 best men, at their best from teh 1980s??

    Hamburg Wlad VS 1982 Holmes

    Hamburg Wlad VS 1982 Cooney

    Hamburg Wlad VS 1983 Witherspoon

    Hamburg Wlad VS 1984 Thomas

    Hamburg Wlad VS 1985 Tubbs

    Hamburg Wlad VS 1985 Spinks

    Hamburg Wlad 1987 Tucker

    Hamburg Wlad VS 1988 Tyson

    Hamburg Wlad VS 1989 Bruno

    Hamburg Wlad VS 1989 Ruddock

wlad beats all of them except tyson and holmes. bruno and ruddock could possibly give him some trouble.

I trhijjk Wlad and Holmes would be a close fight .. I rate Hokmes much highter in terms of greatness, but HTH this is tight... Holmes close decision..... On WItherspoon and THomas best tday they could putll this off, both hit hard enough and had the skills (along with the chin) to get to Wlad...8X out of 10 Tyson knocks out Wlad.. But if Wlad makes it past 7 rounds he could pull this off.

RUddock is a live underdog and so is Cooney. ,i guess you can also Give Bruno a punchers chance too.... I Would give PrimeTUcker a shot but he lacked the fire.

Spinks,TUbbs were one maybe the best boxers of this lineup (along with Holmes)..But they stand the least chance... Neither had the best chin, or big power at HW,.. ANd theyd need that to pull of a win over Wlad.

I find it interesting that you single them out (apart from the obvious e.g Holmes Tyson).

What about Witherspoon or Thomas on a good day?

Hamburg Wlad VS 1982 Holmes= HOLMES too good

Hamburg Wlad VS 1982 Cooney = COONEY, he had fast hands and came to fight.

Hamburg Wlad VS 1983 Witherspoon= SPOON too slick for wlad.

Hamburg Wlad VS 1984 Thomas= WLAD too much consistancy for thomas

Hamburg Wlad VS 1985 Tubbs =WLAD too used to smaller fat opponents.

Hamburg Wlad VS 1985 Spinks = SPINKS too fast and awquard. wlad cant time him.

Hamburg Wlad 1987 Tucker = WLAD, but its close.
Hamburg Wlad VS 1988 Tyson = TYSON too wrong for wlad

Hamburg Wlad VS 1989 Bruno = BRUNO, harder jab, came to fight.

I missed Tyson he would be an early problem for Vlad but Tyson could get caught coming in and the jab could be an issue....I would go with Tyson because of his power but Vlad has really improved and I think we will see a few more good fights out of him

Good fights? OR boring boxing clinics(or late kos) over mediocre opposition? Theres only one big win out there that puts him in the company of atg hws.. And that Would be Vitali, and i think big brother would ko him.

Wlad better skills and harder puncher,, but HTH i like Vitali.

I'll take Holmes by UD, Tyson by mid-round KO and give Witherspoon a real chance. The others not so much. I like Ruddock, but he lacked the fundamental skills and would get jabbed silly.

THomas had a short prime but he is underrated and a lttle forgotten.. I like WIhterspoon he was an excellent fighter.. But prime Thomas beat a Pri e Witherspoon.. When Holmes was still undefeated(but slippin) , many favored Thomas to beat Holmes, and HTH was regarded as the best heavy.. Techinichally Witherspoon was a little better... But THomas Jab was at least as good, probably edgedhim in the power and Chin department.. And unlikeWItherspoon always showed up in shape(before going back on drugs).

Dont thik Wlad would Ko a prime THomas.. Dude had a serious chin.. And had an excellent jab and good power... IF Wlad did win it would be by decission, he would soon find out that Thomas was too dangerous to take any chances.... Even a drugged out past it Pinklon.. Stood up to a number of Tysons money shots, Tyson had to throw everything and the kitchen sink for them to stop it.,
