The guy had everything you could ask for as far as potential in a fighter. Destructive power from either hand, insane acrobatic movement, a great chin, the ability to throw punches from anywhere, yeah.. I'm in love with Nas' potential and really wish I could have watched his potential greatness against the handful of guys who proved their greatness who were around at the same time he was.

Think about all of the potential matchups that could have been made, had Nas not up and quit.. Nas would just be finishing up his career now, or a few years ago.. He could have fought the likes of Marquez, Pac, Morales and had he the durability in career, possibly Juarez.. Nothing wrong with beating Kelly and the old fighters he beat. But he really needed to fight the fighters of his day, that were his age and on the same respective level.

Nas WAS worthy of fighting those guys.

But.. I don't think a guy who is supposedly, arguably, or possibly on the same level of a hall of famer skill or talent wise deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.. ****, I can drive a golf ball over 300 yards and am capable of nailing 50 foot birdies.. Doesn't mean I should be on the PGA tour or be upset that I don't get to play with Tiger Woods.

There are TONS of fighters who were never underdogs in their fights.

Hamed would have been the first boxer ever to have held all 4 titles in a division if it wasn't for boxing politics. There has never been anyone like him nor will there ever be i guess. The guy unreal skill, amazing power and all his fights were exciting to watch. Yeah he got beat by a ATG by UD but he accomplished a hel of a lot. By the standards of the IBHoF he should definitely be in there.

Again, couldn't agree more. There were also guys around at the time like Norwood and Luisito Espinosa who were viewed as too much of a risk for Naz, and those fights could have been made far more easily than v Morales or Barrera.

Instead, Naz fought Billy Hardy and Augie Sanchez. Hence the reason he is apparently now unlikey to make the HOF. If only if only if only...

There aren't tons of fighters in the HOF with resumes as weak as Naz though.

Prince Naseem Hamed is the reason I became a fan of boxing. So he must have done something right. :yep

That is the most commonly believed myth on the ESB. So many people think that, it's very surprising to me. I have seen every one of Naz's fights since Vincenzo Belcastro in 1994, I think I've seen all of them more than once, and I can't work out why anyone thinks he has a great chin at all. His chin is decent, possibly even pretty good, but a far far cry from great. Had he ever fought a world-class fighter with 1-punch KO power, then we would have seen if he had a great chin - but he never did. Barrera fought to outbox him, he never went in for the kill, and Barrera was never a concussive single-hitter anyway. People blame balance for all of his knockdowns, but this is another myth. The truth was he was pretty easily stunned, he just never fought enough big punchers or enough guys who were good enough to land on him consistently to finish the job.

Just out of interest, which fighters knocked Nas down?
I know Kelley did, did Medina? I've seen that one, but I forget.
