Seeing as how someone set up a thread comparing Calzaghe's legacy to Hamed, I am quite curious to see what people think would have happened to Hamed had he fought Morales instead of Barrea. If you think about it, stylistically speaking I can actually see Hamed stopping Morales. I just feel that Morales would go out there and try to brawl with Hamed giving way to some exciting exchanges where one or the other gets taken out. The second question I have is what do you guys think would have happened to Hamed had he won that fight? Would he have have retired as early as he did or would he have continued fighting? If he continued on fighting would he have faired better against Barrera with the experience gained from an elite fighter such as Morales or would have the storied played out the same?
morales by total domination, morales would tag the **** out of him.manuel medina landed at will&rocked naz, imagine what a 126 morales would do.
styles do make fights, and barrera did the wise thing in avoiding a toe to toe confrontation with Hamed, but landed 4-5 punch combos and outboxed Naz pretty bad. Morales, on the other hand, always loved to go toe to toe, but Morales was close to his very best at this point as well. i think it's alot closer than alot of people realize, but Morales could always go back to boxing Hamed on the outside. Morales definitely wins
prob w/ fantasy fights is that all we can really do is imagine who will possibly win. but i do imagine that morales possibly wins this fantasy match-up.
I am not a huge Hamed fan by any stretch, but this fight definitely would have been more compelling then the Barrera fight as mention earlier, Morales just loved to go toe to toe and I am sure this could have gotten pretty ugly. Thinking a bit more though I really don't see Hamed with the heart to withstand that kind of abuse.
It would be a closer fight than Hamed/Barrera as Morales almost always got into brawls and Hamed could more than handle himself in one aswell. I think Morales would have taken a close UD in the end.
Morales by somewhat easy UD or late round TKO. Morales at this point had not yet really started to decline from his brawls. He had the ability to go toe to toe, or to outbox virtually anyone out there. In the end, Morales' heart, willpower, and ability to walk throw punches carries him to a victory...
The Prince that fought Barrera was a shell of his former self. Not in terms of age but he was a different fighter to years earlier. I still think at that time(2000-2001) both Barrera and Morales would have got the better of him, even if Naz was at his best. But both fights would have been much closer and more entertaining to watch.
