The Hamed obsession is kind of sad (it pops up, seemingly, everyday on ESB). The guy simply wasn't on the level of the great Mexican fighters. Period.

I agree, I can definitely see Morales brawling, especially when you consider how maddening Hamed could be with his taunting and spoiling tactics. He even managed to momentarily anger Barrera when he got him in a headlock and (seemingly) fell to the canvas on purpose, still holding Barrera's head under his arm. Barrera went back to his calm outboxing style shortly afterwards, but I really can't imagine Morales doing the same. He would want to beat the utter crap out of Hamed. I think it would be more competitive than the Barrera fight, but I think it still looks bad for Hamed. Morales, as we all know, had a scary chin -- he took some bombs throughout his long career, and he only finally crumbled when past his prime and fighting the current P4P 1. Tough, tough man. Even Hamed (who I class as one of the most powerful featherweights to ever grace the sport) would have trouble knocking Morales out, and I can't see Hamed winning on points. I think this fight would be what the Barrera fight was supposed to be -- a back and forth war. I take Morales to win, though -- more proven, tough as nails, and at that point in time he was in dangerous form. Hamed, on the other hand, was at his worst form. At that point he'd fallen prey to the curse that comes down upon most crushing punchers; he was getting lazy with his boxing, and wanted to end things with one big punch. He absolutely believed in the power of his fists, and he thought that they could never let him down, mainly due to how they had never failed to bail him out in the Kelley/Ingle/Sanchez fights, amongst others.

Problem is, with Morales, you need MORE than just power. Even if it's the kind of power that Hamed had.

If he had somehow won, he would still have lost to Barrera. Barrera would only take the Morales fight as even more reinforcement for the plan to outbox rather than brawl with Hamed, and Hamed would still fall into that 'look for the one big shot' mentality. Hamed would be looked upon much more kindly by many people on this site, though, just for beating someone as great as Morales. He'd still have plenty of people sneering at him for the Barrera match, but there wouldn't be anywhere near as much 'he lost to the first good fighter he ever faced!' stuff going around.

Naz brutalizes Morales, Barrera ripped the **** out of Morales in their first fight he was robbed in as much or more than he ripped the **** out of Hamed. Morales is there to be hit, Hamed hits harder than anyone at FW ever and takes his head off
