early days he was simply brilliant. there are a few like him. robinson , ray leonard, jones jnr, mayweather. hamed though had the lot, possibly even more than all of them. shame he turned out such a **** because he was a briliant fighter.
What? I hate the Prince but at one point h was really something. He shined against both domestic AND world class.
I think its unfair to call a midget a freak. Hamed was a 'small person' Thats the politically correct term I believe.
Shame his confidence was shot by Barrera because in his heyday the Prince was really something to behold. I think leaving Wincobank was a mistake as he epitomised the elusive switch-hitting brand of Boxing that the Ingles taught. Steward tried to change him too much and make him conventional which contributed to his downfall. But at his best he was simply awesome, and though people disliked him for his cocky persona, I thought that the arrogant showmanship he brought to Boxing was entertaining and it helped raise his profile.
Hamed has a huge amount of haters on various forums. It seems all you have to is mention his name and iq's start dropping all over the place. Apparently the MAB fight is the only one of note!:huh An atg but lets not forget a complete **** of a human being!
I agree he gets unfairly judged on the Barerra fight. True, it was the biggest of his career but he also had some solid world class wins under his belt. IMHO he fell in love with his power too much after he left BI.
I ****in loved seing him lose against Barerra. Think that is the only time that I have cheered on a foreigner over a UK fighter.
Not sure he's quite an ATG but he certainly is a **** for what he did to that poor sod he hit in his McClaren Mercedes.
Bingo! Overrated while he was active; still overrated by some today. Kelly exposed his limitations, and Barrera finished the job. :nod
whoaaa! at the time kelly was world class and he got beat. hamed, when training properly and with ingle, would have been an atg
Hamed is a scroat but at one point he was outstanding. Loved seeing Marco Antonio Barrera teach him a lesson.
His attitude for me stunk to high heaven though, but he was a great fighter for sure, but im so glad Barrera beat him up,he also proved he could not come back like all the greats, like he tried to tell us all he was one of,he just quit and got fat as ****.
This argument comes round every month or so. These are the facts MAB made his name beating Hamed The Hamed MAB fought was in NO WAY prime Hamed. Hamed was also never a super feather, he was a super bantamweight Hamed also was/is **** but made lower weight boxing popular and was one of the first to make serious money.
hamed was a great fighter and great showman. he was cocky, but he pulled it off well and could be really funny...its not like he was cocky without having the tools to back it up his words. the somersaults, the dancing in the ring, the overlong entrances were just part of the whole spectacle, and even the guys who hate on him have to admit boxing wouldn't have been the same in that era without him. i hate how half of his later opponents were considered world class before he faced them, and then considered shot afterwards. same **** we get now with any british fighter who does anything at world level.
