I think this is just fantasy really, saying Johnson was shot. The dude hadn't lost for over six years, had made ten successful defences of his title, and looked fairly good against Naz himself. To say Johnson was shot is huge exagartation.

Just because Johnson put in one or two medicore performances prior to Hamed doesn't make him shot. If he was on a losing streak, or looked totally out of his depth against Naz, then saying he was "shot" might be credible, but I don't think any of the facts support that particular theory.

Focusing on the negative aspects of a mans career, instead of the positive, focusing on what he didn't achive, instead of what he did...

I just can't understand that perspective, that approach, it just seems like a really shitty way to look at things.

I think there is a fairly good case to be made that at the time of both fights, Kelley was more past it than Johnson. For me, Medina is a very good win, but a fairly mediocre (by Naz's standerds) performace all the same.

    Fully agree

Its just all negative..............not to mention pure fantasy

When focusing on anyone including yourself

Instead of playing silly mind games of what you didnt do..............................why cant you actually focus on what you did do

After all there is infinite possiblities of what you didnt do

But only one truth of what you did actually do

Focus on reality.............what actually came to pass

Not a complete load of shite fantasy world..........of what could of been

i just can't see how he can be a all time great, yes he was good,he beat some half decent boxers/champs,but boom boom was past it,on the slide, robinson was a strong boxer but hardly the best feather in the world at the time.he nearly got his arsed kicked against kelly who was way past it(naz just about had the better chin)and when he fought a 'not past it in barrera',he got whipped like mr whippy on a fookin hot day, none of this 'he dident train right bollox' he got whipped.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................full stop.

He battered Kelley. It wasn't close, in truth.

And there's no full stop about it - he was a part time fighter when he faced Barrera. The hunger had gone.

Ok, so we have established the Boxing News had Hamed has the favourite :think I don't really see this as cast iron proof that Johnson was shot, if I'm honest.

He didn't batter Kelley, it was back and forth, Kelley was one of the few fighters that hurt Naz, that first round he could have KO'd Naz. That is what made it such an iconic and memorable fight. When it got the third, you could see something changed, Naz got into the grove and did what he always did.

Naz circa 1996/7 was a very different proposition to the one that faced Barrera.
