They adapted so they didn't break there hands every time they threw a punch, hence the nickname Joe Calslappy.

 

Hamed would not beat any of them at any time of his career

 

Agreed they,d all have been too rough for naz. Naz was great at giving it out but couldn,t take it back. His career showed that. Medina was fairly competetive with him....medina was a pretty good fighter as naz was....again tho we got excuses how naz had a cold. As his career moves on he starts body slamming opponents when guys we,re giving him a bit back as the opponents improved. You didnt even really need to better naz for him to struggle with competition....just be slightly competetive then he couldn,t really handle it. Then we have the barrera fight....makes excuses never really to be seen again after it.

Naz was a great fighter....doubt he,d have beaten pacman, marquez, morales or barrera tho. These guys dont make excuses about training etc....they train like their lifes depended on it. They didnt need trainers to get them to train hard. Thats what ends up seperating them in the end. That plus they we,re better more proven fighters.

 

Don’t even try to pretend Kelley and Sanchez weren’t giving it back.

 

Since you’re new to the sport, I’ll explain it a little better. Hamed’s peak was 97-99. Morales, Barrera, Marquez, and Pacquiao all peaked in early 2000s or later. Morales in 99 was the only guy who would be close to even money with Hamed. Marquez was gunshy back then, Pacquiao was completely raw, and Barrera wasn’t as committed to tactical boxing.

 

Naz was a world champion...your not getting there without having a bit about you. But in terms of the guys mentioned....they could take it and give it back at that level. Naz showed consistantly that he struggled when it came time to take it back...pretty sure he was trying to bodyslam kevin kelley as well. He often done things like that when guys gave it back to him. It became a consistant trait throughout his career. Anytime someone gave him something back....he either made excuses for it or tried to foul etc.

When it came time for barrera....he gave nothing back cause he was outmatched. Even when he did try to foul barrera punished him for it. Turned out a big weakness for naz....couldn,t really handle anyone getting success against him. Think the same was said in sparring.

Nothing against naz cause he was honestly great he just wasn,t elite because of things like i,ve mentioned. We,ll probably never 100 percent know but his career kind of points towards not being elite. Medina gave him a hard fight. Kelley gave him a really hard fight and barrera basically beat him up. Thats not an elite career.

Still true tho. Naz got found out at a higher level and done exactly what everyone expected. Ran away never to be heard of again. Whereas barrera fought for years....he actually came up from 122 to fight naz at 126....hence why a lot of people fancied naz. In the end it wasn,t even really competetive.

Naz career showed he,d never have beat the four mentioned. Great fighter....that looked great against lower classed guys....but looked sloppy when the competition got higher. That was way back against medina as well. Then got found wanting against barrera.
