He's 6'1'' and making 153. Guillermo Jones is 6'4'' and was making 147 until his mid 20's. Look at Fundora who's about 6'5'' or 6'6'' and he's currently making 153.
Although it says his height is 6'1 on BoxRec, he looks a lot taller than that. Some websites have him as 6'2 or 6'3.
Fair enough. Yeah, we don’t give ourselves too much credit over here but there’s some quality and solid fighters you can meet on your way up if you box domestically. If I’m Frank, I’d put Sheeraz in with Harry Scarff, Jez Smith or Macauley McGowan next. All fairly limited, but talented and solid domestic English level fights who are just a step behind Fowler, Cheeseman, Conway and Metcalf.
Apologies for the double post, but when I was still training at age 22/23 I made 154 a couple times and I’m 6”1. Couldn’t make it now as I’ve filled out (beer belly) but it’s not uncommon.
I agree and hes got JJ Metcalf there which would be a great fight. I just think sometimes Frank takes the WBO European route against a cheaper opponent when he wants to protect a potential cash cow.
I did think he looked a bit taller than that - cheers. i've said it many times, that many heavyweights could easily make weight divisions lower. I've had discussions with people here regarding whether or not certain heavyweights could even make cruiser. The answer is that many could. Many are carrying ludicrous amounts of fat (and probably water) for an athlete, and many like Adeleye are artificially pumped up and look about 250+ when they are only 220. Some people will refer to Sheeraz and the like as weight bullies but at least the guy is in shape! I have a lot of respect for that.
If by 'Bigger' you mean the best then you're way off. Dalton Smith, Dennis Mccann, Felix Cash, Lee Mcgregor,Joshua Buatsi, Sam Noakes and quite a few more are much more imppressive, then when the elite Pat Mccormack and the GB boys turn pro he'll be well further down the list
He sells a lot of tickets so Frank will want to keep him on the books, I guess that is why they are skipping the domestic scene so they can steer him towards a world title shot early.
Revealing that they are swerving Fowler. Fowler aint good enough to get past domestic level on his pro showings so far, so it doesn't look like they are as confident in Sheerazs ability as they make out
Your definitely not wrong. It’s no secret that Frank loves a WBO champion, and if he can get one he will milk their title defences until they get a cash out against a superstar / or get a ranking high enough to fight one - Clev (Kovalev), Walsh(Wasn’t champion but fought Tank Davis) and Smith (Canelo) - the list is very long. His current business model is clearly based on building a prospect to a cash out fight and rinse and repeat. If he can get Sheeraz against Charlo or Castano for all 4 belts then he’s done it again. Failing that, if one of them gets all 4 belts chances are they start vacating as they can’t meet 4 mandatories, meaning Sheeraz might get a soft touch for the vacant belt.
I’ve just read on the British Board circular that it was Fowler that withdrew, obviously due to the Smith fight. If Warren had kept his mouth shut they would have been able to peddle that Fowler was ducking Sheeraz!
