I'm curious what fighters were hard headed enough to hurt their opponents hands during fights. Or just flat out durable enough to take so much punishment the other fighters hands were giving out. For example, Tommy Morrison said later on that he was hitting Ray Mercer so damned hard that his hands were getting unbearably sore. Jeff Fenech often suffered hand injuries but managed to break both of them in one night against one of the greatest chins in boxing history in Marcos Villasana. Talk about an underrated chin. I forget who it was but Micheal Spink's was hurting his hands on a certain opponents ultra hard head. He was seemingly getting near his limit when he finally stopped the guy. Gatti, like Fenech, often suffered from injured hands. He messed one up badly beating on Ward. Who else?
Hearns broke his right hand in the first round in his fight with Hagler. I'm not sure whether this was the result of one punch or several.
What's the first fight when Calzaghe's hands were damaged? He's had fragile hands for so many years, I can't remember the point where a niggle because a lasting hanidcap...I'm certain he was more of a direct puncher earlier in his career.
I prefer to smash my elbow down on a bodypunch/uppercut, that can damage a hand. Sometimes in the heat of battle you'll just bite down and keep punching with a broken hand but afterwards you'll regret it nearly as much as being KTFO
Joe Louis hurt his hand against Tommy Farr. Georges Carpentier broke his hand in the second round against Jack Dempsey.:good
