i always thought you were supposed to constantly be moving my hands but a freind of mine told me that it was pointless and any good fighter will figure out your pattern and hit you. so the best defence was just keep a good tight hand position. true or now?

True. Sporadic movement can become motorset and predictable, leaving you with holes in your defense. But feinting from time to time is good for breaking the ice.
Take it up another notch, can you use your moving hands to actually bait him? Then you've played it in reverse.

I would say true as well. The hand movements would become predictable after a short time, that is, unless you are focusing on moving the hands. At that point, it becomes even more of a problem because you are directing your efforts toward what is essentially useless hand movement.

Pugsley was also correct on feints and whatnot.

Are you sure you have a trainer, hypnotiq?
