Hand wrap thing is overblown

I know one thing. I bet 99.9% of people (Including me) don't know how much it helps a fighter at all and its all guess work.

It must make some differance otherwise why put them in your gloves. Yet it can't make to much of a differance otherwise fighters who get hit for a living will notice something differant.

I personally don't agree with Kellerman's assesmant that His punches don't have anywhere near the same impact, as cotto wasn't bruised up.

Margo didn't land anywhere near as many clean blows on Cotto which is why he wasn't marked up as bad.

Just ask Manny if he hits hard. He admitted to being in the most pain he'd ever been in after a fight with Margo. And Manny dominated Margo. That tells me that he hits hard without wraps.

And I agree with JohnAnthony everyone keeps saying his punches don't have the same impact but he hit Cotto no where near as much as the first fight so we wouldn't know.

 

He did get a year's suspension. I dont see how you cannot make an issue out of it.

The guy is a cheat period. However, people tend to look at this detail and forget about boxing itself. It has been working out for guys for years - a flat footed, one dimensional, compact puncher who always comes forward to land one solid punch always loses to a boxer-puncher who circles on his toes, even on the backfoot and makes use of speed, accuracy, power of course, but boxing skills fundamentally, the pumping left jab, the lead left hook, the counter, sharp str8 right counter, the little feints with the head, shoulders, footwork and always countering fast and often - SRR vs LaMotta, Ali vs Liston I, Holmes vs Cooney, Spinks vs Holmes, Leonard vs Hagler, Mayweather vs Corrales, Mayweather vs Hatton, Khan vs Maidana, now Cotto vs Margarito... There are endless examples. The hand wrapping issue is definitely overblown...

That's not what the thread title and first post suggest to most.. It's one thing to say Cotto would have won the second fight whether Margo had loaded gloves or not, but that in no way means the hand wrap thing is overblown.
