Joe Calzaghe has lightining hand speed, possibly the fastest in boxing today. But Jones of yesteryear was even faster again.

Angles, timing and having the natural instincts to throw punches at the right time when the opponent is in an awkward position where he can not avoid them well enough is the true skill in boxing. Both RJJ and Calzaghe have a great appreciation of this.

People are throwing out a shitload of hyperbole, but I'd still say Jones has a clear edge even though it's being exaggerated. How much? Hard to measure, really. I'd say Joe still has better handspeed than anyone Roy's gone against.

Jones was better than Calzaghe in every way imaginable, including chin.

Before the Calzaghe sack swingers scoff I suggest they put Calzaghe in the ring with a 230lb heavyweight for 12 rounds, or give Calzaghe a 15 fight career at 175, taking on all comers. You'd see the mother****er KO'd on a regular basis, which didn't happen with Roy.

How many times did Jones get knocked down at 168? Bear in mind Jones started lighter than Calzaghe did, and he only suffered 1 flash KD until he was about 35 years old, and that was at 175. Calzaghe is a ****ing coward and hasn't had a single fight at 175 as yet. We'll see who's chin is better pretty soon I think :good

    i feel for joe

    quality boxer

    hands of glass

    hence the slaps

he cannot punch with belief as his hands crumble

he's done pretty well for a boxer with fragile hands

imagine if his body could allow him to punch

whether it thru tactical avoidance, managers or bad luck on lennox's behalf, these boxers can never be great (even though they had it all) as greatness is also defined by who u fight

Jones was much faster he had some of the fastest hands p4p on boxing history up there with Ray Leonard, Meldrick Taylor and Camacho.
