Haney has no power and no chin. He just doesn't have the genetic privileges. Should he retire now ?

Little Devin is far more skilled than Garcia, yet his chin failed him against the faster, more powerful, more physically talented fighter and that's all she wrote. Haney didn't have the power to keep Ryan off, he was at his mercy half the fight. He also lacks true ring iq, any other Floyd knockoff would be on their bike, but Haney had other plans

It's clear little Devin wasn't built for war, and this is a sport of war and fighting logistics.

He was simply born with some of the worst possible traits a fighter can have - a chin made of wet toilet paper, weak legs, the instinct to hug, pillowhands, 0 critical thinking skills.

Little Devin won't make it far, it's time to retire

Why this thread? He is young, he did not lose too badly he finish the fight, he have a big heart. He can still have good fights and even become world champion again. What is the problem with people today when a boxer loses that he necessarily has to retire?

I don't think he should retire whilst he's still young. But I fully expect it to be all downhill from here!!

No that's kinda silly. You don't need power to do big things, Haney hasn't had a ko in 5 years but still became a two division champion. Paulie the lightest hitter I've ever seen and look what he did, Cory Spinks...........Sergio Mora.............I could go on and on. You don't have to have power.

And regarding losses............These are all world class guys. 60 years ago a guy would lose 3 fights back to back then would be in a title fight 3 years later. Losses are far too focused on in this day in age..................even in MMA nobody is saying you need to retire if you lose your first fight.

This mindset is a plague on boxing.

What? He got hammered. He took a career changing beating. Doesn’t mean he should retire but he’s not P4P material like many here hoped for.

Style based on bullying smaller boys won't age or fare well when against comparable in size, harder hitters. Truth is, Haney is not that good defensively. Not as good as he should be with his (lack) of attributes.

Haney has no chance against a fighter who is same size as him.

Haney always fought smaller fighters. always.

I'm just glad he got what he deserved.

sport don't need boxer/man like him. All fake.

LOL.....I'm interested to know the age of all of y'all in this conversation.

Haney definitely wasn't the elite boxer he and his father claimed he was, but to suggest retirement because of that is pretty ignorant.

All these young fans act as if a loss, or a "bad loss" is means to hang your gloves up. We are talking about a young man in his mid 20s losing a bout vs an opponent he's shared the ring with 6 times prior and was 3-3 in those bouts. The ignorance that an athlete should retire at age 25 is mind boggling to me. Imagine if Lebron James retired after getting swept in the championship vs the San Antonio Spurs (bad loss). Imagine if Michael Jordan retired after being bounced in the first round by the Celtics or the first time he got clothesline by the Bad Boys of the Detroit Pistons.

At some point all these ignorant kids who claim to be fans of this sport need to stop suggesting someone needs to retire simply because they lost. This is not the NCAA basketball bracket. And even those teams have another season to come back after a loss. The greatest fighters of this sport has multiple losses. Floyd avoided his losses by strategically choosing when he was going to fight the big names on his resume. When he took control of his career, that was his goal. Stop making it seem like other fighters are failures if they don't follow in his footsteps.

Never understood why some boxing fans want fighters at the top end of the sport to retire whenever they face defeat.

TLDR; OP doesn´t like Haney and thinks he should retire because of it.

Dude, Imagine if Gabe Rosado walked away after the Angulo loss.
He didn´t and now he is financially set for life. It was a though road but it paid off as he has wealth, a home, a beautiful family, a business and a job he likes.
Man could have retired at any point but gave it his all and found success despite the 17 losses.
