    @Bokaj

    • Jorge Linares is 173 cm. When they fought, Loma and Linares were both 135. Loma knocked him out.
    • Devin Haney is 173 cm. He and Loma will fight at 135.

    Do the math.

Loma is 170 cm. And, more importantly, he has 14 cm shorter reach. Now that's a lot.

And that they will weigh in the same doesn't mean they will be the same weight in the ring. They won't. If the weight will matter much depends on how much clinching there will be, since Haney's power is unlikely to spook Loma like Lopez's did. For my money, the reach advantage is the big size advantage for Haney.

You forgot to say that Loma was knocked down by Linares and was even with him on the cards by the time of stoppage. More crucially, Loma has become older since then while Haney has matured.

Exactly. People just can't seem to understand how advantageous size is in boxing. They blag on about "it's the rules"...so one guy can weigh 15-20lbs more than the other fight night....great rules you got there

What I'm saying is, you're giving the upper hand to Haney due to his size. However, Linares, Jamaine Ortiz and Richard Commey were also 173 cm, same as Haney, and Loma beat them all.

Having longer reach has its own disadvantages, when brawling in close distance. And is Haney really that powerful? He won his last 5 fights by decision, no KOs, no knock downs.

Vasiyl Lomachenko is 2 times Olympic and 2 times World gold medalist. Haney has no medals. Haney isn't even in the same league with Loma.

If you actually read what I wrote I said I'm giving the upper hand to Haney due to a combination of size, skill and speed. Without knowing the reach and weight of Commey and Linares, which also are elements of size of course, I can say that they don't have Haney's speed and skill.

Yes, Loma's amateur pedigree is superior to Haney's. Guess who else's it is superior to - Salido's and Lopez's. Didn't help Loma much. Fury and Canelo don't have a great amateur pedigree either, but have both beaten guys with greater pedigree. The deciding thing isn't how they did as amateurs, but where they are at now and I believe that Haney is the superior fighter at 135 right now.

I'm not saying that with all out certainity or anything, you can never do when you're talking about two fighters at this level, but that's my take.

This is the part of the equation that people leave out. If a guy is so huge during his off season, losing all that weight hampers his training and wrecks his body in the process leading up to the fight. That’s why it’s not as simple as “he walks around at…and then drains himself to make weight”. I mean, they use the word themselves but seem to have no meaning of what it actually means.

If you've ever worn a jacket like the one Haney has on, you know it makes you appear much larger, and that is why he wore it. But if they were both wearing t-shirts, there would only be a noticeable height difference between the two.

The size difference between them is obscene

Haney rehydrated up to 24lbs after weigh in

Even if it was just 20lbs that would make the weight difference between him and Loma the same as it is between GGG and Haney going by GGG's average fight night weight

Someone who fights at 135 and rehydrates 20lbs which is the bare minimum Haney rehydrates obviously weighs 155lbs in the ring

That's three weight classes heavier than Loma

And he has a near 6'' reach advantage over Loma

In fact, Haney has a longer reach than career MW GGG

But if he rehydrated as much as 24lbs he would weigh 159lbs

Loma looked healthy on the scales at 126 ie. his first division

Zurdo who is one of the biggest weight bullies in the sport along with Haney never looks close to this on the scales and yes weight bullying is a thing

He doesn't look just like a different person he looks like a different species
