Haney doesn't bring anything to this fight other than the same gameplan as Lopez . I believe Loma has that style figured out by now and is going to pull the upset. Hoping to get good odds on Loma as Haney seems to be the favorite
Haney is a sharper puncher than many give him credit for. Loma is a beast but Haney is really good, this is going to be a tough tactical fight for both. Loma could win I just don’t know that he will take the chances necessary to win the fight. I like Haney on points.
I'm genuinely curious as to why you think Loma won't take the chances necessary to win. Well behind against a much bigger puncher in Lopez, Loma pressed the action and spent much of the second half of that fight in range of enemy artillery. Why wouldn't he push the action against a less dangerous opponent from a power standpoint, in what is in all likelihood his last chance at glory?
Because Haney won’t be there to hit, and he’ll be playing into Haney’s preferred position of counter punching and moving. He’ll have to expend a lot of energy to find Haney, while also opening himself up to getting countered. It’s a very difficult fight for Loma, not saying he can’t/won’t win, just saying he’s going to have to push himself out of his comfort zone to get this done. He can’t sit on the outside and beat Haney at range. He also is going to find himself in a points deficit pretty quickly which is just going to compound his problems, unless he comes in and fights different than he ever has.
He's just a kid talking like a kid man. Haney doesn't come off as hateful. You've never yourself made a comment about a race that was ignorant? Practically everyone I know has said something similar once or twice
Reasonable post. You're correct in that Loma cannot outpoint Haney at range. Loma, however, has always done his best work at mid range. And, yes, he's historically been a slow starter. That said, he did fight with a renewed sense of urgency against the Japanese kid and Commey. Moreover, stamina has never been a significant issue with Lomachenko. If anything, the Ukrainian standout tends to push the pace in the second half of the fight. Much will depend on whether Haney can effectively keep Loma at the end of his long, rhythm-disrupting jab. If Haney can't do that and/or command some respect with his power shots, Loma's experience, ring craft, and quick feet may prove decisive.
I think that’s fair, and for the record I’m not meaning to disrespect or discount Loma, he’s a great fighter. I just think this is a different kind of challenge than he’s faced previously, personally I’d consider this his most impressive win if he’s able to get it done.
I was saying rigo was way too small from day 1. Can’t the same thing be said about Loma vs Teo tho lmao.
