Hang on, if Calzaghe fights Dawson and then retires, isn't he ducking Pavlik??

It's not a matter of how good Kelly is, or is not. He lost an embarassingly one sided fight to a guy slappy Joe beat. Joe can just point at that, and say "nope." Everything that went on before is null and void. That's just how boxing works sometimes. The fact that Kelly was sick and injured, and even lied to his promoter to keep Arum from postponing the BHop fight, isn't relevant. The loss wipes out everything up to and including all of Calzaghe's lies and trash talk before hand. You're only as good as your latest performance, and Kelly lost every ****ing round to Hopkins. Not allowing Team Pavlik and Top Rank to post pone the fight was his mistake, and he'll have to live with it.

Pavlik fought at 164 and at 170...if Calzaghe was ducking him then, why is he not ducking him now?:huh

So, really, Calzaghe would be ducking Pavlik, but he'd get away with it because Hopkins schooled an injured, sick Pavlik in his previous fight, is that it?

A tired old gag. Pavlik was absolutely embarrassed by Hopkins who Calzaghe beat by a whisker in the eyes of the judges. Therefore, a Calzaghe v Pavlik isn't really on the agenda now, especially given Pavlik doesn't want to fight above 160 anymore. Circumstances. However, circumstances are that Chad Dawson has now beaten Johnson, Tarver, Adamek and Harding. Surely you must admit that's now a cracking fight at 175??

He was! HBO was saying so! The American boxing writers were saying so! The American fans were saying so!

...just like they're saying now he's ducking Dawson!;)

But how can he be ducking Dawson if he's still ducking Pavlik? Should he not be fighting Pavlik, the man he ducked first, and only then go after Dawson?:huh

Well, I'm just surprised that so many of the people that said Calzaghe was ducking Pavlik before the Jones fight no longer say that now, but instead say that he is ducking Dawson of all people all of a sudden! :huh

How would ducking the Lineal Champion, Erdei, prove that Calzaghe was the LHW Champ, just by beating Chad Dawson? Why Chad Dawson and not the man that put the fear of god into Chad Dawson - Adrian Diaconu?:huh

Cal told PAv to pad his resume which is what he should've done. Pav and his compadres truly thought he could beat Cal lol. That fight would have been a joke to watch. See Hop-Pav for details. I know I know...just because Hop did it don't mean Cal would lol. Yada, yada, yada!

Personally I dont think Dawson is that more impressive than some other guys between 160 and 175, but he is the most obvious 'american' challenge and that is the difference. The fact that Erdei is considered linear champ is irrelevent, he's not American.

If Joe were to beat Dawson and i think he would, it wouldnt be long before the next american contender is being ducked. If Taylor KOs Lacy expect him to be 'ducked' aswell...:patsch
