Hang on, if Calzaghe fights Dawson and then retires, isn't he ducking Pavlik??

Calzageh would have soundly outclassed him, don't get me wrong, but to me, the fact remains that Joe talked about fighting Kelly, and when Kelly started talking trash, Joe starting talking out of both sides of his mouth

Side 1.--'Pavlik needs to fight more people' 'He is too green' etc.

Side 2--'We offered him a fight in 2006' etc.

To me, if it looks, walks and quacks like one... well... Disagree if you want, and the argument that there was a bigger name and money in Jones is undeniable, but he called out Pavlik and when Pavlik answered, Joe/his camp started backtracking. It is what it is.

Easy....the lost to Bhop was key. In the sense that PAV was being touted as the Victor over Bhop even before the fight began. PAV was also being mentioned for Joe C which as the likely match up if Joe beat Roy and PAV beat Nard.

Since Nard and Joe squared off already and Joe won....there is no need to rematch Bhop...even with the contreversy.

Since PAV lost to the man that Joe already beat.....there really is no reason for PAV and Joe to square off b/c it won't be at 160 where PAV is champion and it won't be at 175 where JOE is champion and we all saw how PAV looked at a catch weight at 170 so there really are no good reasons for anyone to make such a claim that JOe would be ducking PAV at this time.

And no......Im not saying PAV was exposed by Hop. I already knew the short commings in PAV's boxing portfolio...Bhop just re-affirmed that PAV won't do well with fighters with good movement and a crafty style. Its a shame how fans of boxing automatically right off very promising or proven fighters after a loss. I'm not one of them.

And Joe didn't duck PAV nor would he be ducking him if they decided on not fighting PAV now.

In that case, he should definitely fight Pavlik, not Dawson!:good

He's ducking him until he proves otherwise, that's for sure!

Actually it was some of the weirdest **** in recent history. Cal said Pav was to green and not a big enough name, and during the same time period he claimed he offered Kelly a fight back in 2005 when Kelly's best win was Zuniga, and he was recovering from hand surgery. And this **** all came on the heels of joe spending months calling Pavlik out.

I hear you, but to me that's just the usual political bull**** in boxing. The bottom line is that Joe worked to his financial advantage, and thus he can't be viewed as ducking. Besides, he can't possibly have thought Pavlik would trouble him.

But you are correct that there was quite a bit of double-talk.

So wouldn't Dawson then by your reasoning have to beat Hopkins before he could have a strong case at a shot against Calzaghe?:think

No.......Bhop is one of those guys that no matter what style or whom is in there across the right will have a difficult time. It's just the way BHop fights. What CHad has done thus far at LHW is the only reason why he has a case against the LHW champion in Joe....Yes CHad is also the LHW Champion but JOe beat Bhop who was considered the realy LHW Champion and in order for Chad to get that title he has to beat the man who beat the man.

Depends on your definition of ducking I guess. To me if you call someone out and then don't fight them--politics or not--it is ducking; always will be, but I see both sides of the coin.

Wouldn't Garay, Diaconu and Erdei also have to beat Calzaghe to be "the man"? Why are they not getting a shot? They are champs just like Dawson. Why should any of them prove themselves against Hopkins or Dawson first, if Dawson doesn't need to do the same, before getting a shot at Calzaghe?

that fight might happen since joe picks his opponet before he thought no one could beat pavlik now that pavlik lost to some one joe beat (hopkins) so now joe probly thinking i could beat him and make a ton of money
