The heavy-handed Finchley star has brought over fast rising American prospect Joe Hanks for three weeks' sparring at his gym to prepare for his meeting with Haye. Hanks, known as "The Future", is unbeaten in 20 fights with 14 knockouts and has previously sparred with the Klitschko brothers, Sultan Ibragimov, Chris Byrd and Jameel McCline.

At 6ft 4in, with fast hands and feet and a big punch, he has similar attributes to former world champion Haye. Hanks says with the way that Chisora is punching he can't see the Hayemaker lasting.

"I've seen Haye, he's very crafty and fast with a very similar style to mine and that's what we've been working on with Dereck in the gym," said Hanks. "By the time the fight comes I will have racked up about 60 rounds with him over three weeks and they are really good, hard spars between two young hungry fighters,

"I've sparred with Klitschkos, Ibragimov, Byrd and many other leading heavyweights and Dereck is up with those guys. Watching Dereck prepare for the fight, he's really focussed and determined to beat Haye,"

"I fancy him strongly to win. Haye's very clever, but Dereck's got all the tools to win and certainly the punch and power to get to him."
Although Hanks finishes with Chisora in early July he will be watching the fight live at home in New Jersey with confirmation that the fight will be covered live in America by EPIX.

He added, "It's a shame that I won't be at the fight to see Dereck win after all the hard work and preparation he has put in, but it's fantastic that EPIX will be televising the fight over here and I'll be watching."

Just watched a bit of Hanks on Youtube.

The things that will cause Chisora issues with Haye are:

    Hand speed
    Movement\speed of foot
    Reflexes and counter punching
Haye will fight from the outside (meaning Chisora will have to close the ring down)

Of these things the only thing i see Hanks having is handspeed. If Chisora is solely worrying about dealing with Hayes hand speed he is going to struggle big time because i think it's the speed of Hayes feet that will cause Chisora most problems

Any heavyweight will be relatively heavy handed due to the sheer size and weight of them. Although I think Haye will win the fight, it will not be easy for him. Styles make fights and these two will gel nicely IMO. I see a tear up in the first few rounds.

People may or may not agree, but to me Hayes lack of Cardio will come into play in this fight.

Chisora has a high punch output, and wont let haye take a break, a break that Haye needs due to all that muscle.

I am leaning towards Chisora on this one for that reason.

I think Chisora is the kind of fighter that will cause Haye problems, Especially if Chisora can take Haye power. And with a chin like that i see no reason why he wouldnt be able to take his power and keep walking thorugh.

    Chisora by UD IMO

Great points actually, if Chisora drags him into the later rounds it could be Chisora's fight. Haye will need to hurt Chisora or KO/TKO him, because he will not outwork him.

    :deal

Chisora will put pressure on Haye causing him to either fight back with the potential of gassing or he will run yet again.
