So I guess that was live. Why did Al toward the start refer to it as "some earlier action"? :huh

It could be he wasn't sure himself. Is he actually there live, or watching a video feed? I know he was in Costa Rica yesterday for the weigh-in. I can't imagine he went just for that and then left without staying to cover the actual event.

 

Berman Sanchez vs. Francisco Dianzo, 8 rounds @ super featherweight.

 

Round 1

Right hands and body shots by Sanchez, very aggressive. Dianzo is trying to trade with him, corking in shots with either hand but getting overwhelmed. Now Dianzo is backed up to the ropes and under heavy fire. Sanchez trots around and jabs at the head of Dianzo. Now some uppercuts by Dianzo after muscling Sanchez to the ropes. Long jabs by Sanchez and some right hands over the top. Dianzo is hanging back and blocking most of the shots. Combo up top and then a left hook to the body by Sanchez.

Round 2

Big body shots by Sanchez. Dianzo swats him away to get off the ropes. Dianzo is coming forward but Sanchez is the one getting shots off while backing up. Dianzo leans back and alternates dipping his shoulders back to try and avoid the high straight shots of Sanchez. The power of Sanchez starting to show, as Dianzo is backed up to the ropes and hit with several head shots while trying to rotate out of the way leaned back into the ropes. Big right hand by Sanchez. Dianzo is unable to land trying to swat his way off the ropes. Sanchez is put momentarily on the ropes and Dianzo tries to mount an attack with uppercuts but Sanchez ducks, grabs and spins him.

Round 3

Sanchez is swinging some big hooks, nailing Dianzo but also leaving Sanchez right there wide open for the uppercuts Dianzo is intent on hitting him back with. Good two-way action, but Sanchez is throwing and landing more. They grapple a bit against the ropes, and Dianzo lets a few overhand rights fly. Sanchez flurries weakly while up against the ropes. Now a double hook by Sanchez. Dianzo bends down and shoulders him in the belly and then swings at the body. Getting sloppy. Sanchez puts Dianzo in the corner and shoeshines his face. Lots of straight punches by Sanchez. More, and more. Dianzo is getting drowned in leather here, but still keeping his guard up. BANG, down he goes. There was a right hand there, but that was mostly from accumulation. He'd been blocking the whole time but Sanchez got a lot of power punches through. Dianzo beats the count and they scrap at close range for the last ten seconds, interrupted halfway through for some reason by the ref. Unclear why.

That assault came too late in the round. Dianzo got saved by the bell. Maybe the 4th. :yep
