Stone is standing pat, looking to time Gabriel with a big right hand but not getting many chances to let it rip due to Gabriel's movement. QUICK right hand by Gabriel. Another. Jab to the body by Gabriel, just above the cunny. Stone is tip-toeing slowly after Gabriel and extending her jabs. Overhand right by Gabriel. Combo by Gabriel while circling left. BIG right hand by Gabriel. Again. Big flurry by Gabriel. STIFF jab to the face by Gabriel, as Stone gets a few shots in during the exchange.

Round 3

Stone is still exploring her options to land with that big right hand. She is patiently edging in on Gabriel, holding her left held out fully extended ahead of herself. Good right hand by Stone. More pressure by Stone, and a left hook. Gabriel is dancing back and lands a grazing hook. Flurry by Gabriel as Stone breathes down her neck. Gabriel pops her jabs while circling out wide and scooting back. Left hook by Stone misses and they trade shots at the bell.

Round 4

Good jab by Gabriel. High right hand by Gabriel. Stone is plugging her way in with a 1-2 but gets countered with a hard quick right hand down the middle. Gabriel is dancing circles to her left around Stone and popping off fast shots. Right hand by Stone catches Gabriel while circling. Double jab and chopping overhand right by Gabriel. Stone lands a left hook but Gabriel loops a right hand around to land and then follows with a stiff quick jab. Right hand by Stone, grazing.

Round 5

Big combo by Gabriel, getting a bit hog-wild and throwing herself off balance with her fast and powerful punches in bunches while pitched forward on the balls of her feet. Stone is getting the worst of every exchange but keeps trying to initiate them while marching up to the kinetic Costa Rican champ. NICE jabs by Gabriel, gliding to her left and snapping the jab twice a second while in motion. Stone takes some big swings but can't swat the fly.

Round 6

Left hook by Gabriel. Good movement, drawing Stone along onto looping counters. "Roundhouse combos", as Bernstein names them. Good jab by Gabriel. Body shot by Stone darting in, but Gabriel rips a big right hand across her face. Very nice jabs and hooks by Gabriel, working that left hand like greased lightning. Stone is just swinging wildly on her way in. Right hand connects for Stone almost by accident as both women are swinging off balance.

Round 7

Stone is marching forward and shooting the gap with accurate jabs and right hands. Stone is scoring very well, although Gabriel is still using a lot of movement and slipping some shots while flat out out-running others while flicking out counters. Good stiff jab by Stone. Gabriel throws a hook. Right hand by Gabriel, left hook by Stone.

68-65 Gabriel

 

Round 8

Big overhand right by Gabriel. 1-2 by Stone, spirited but falling short as Gabriel floats back to the ropes. NICE counter left hook by Gabriel jerks Stone's head around. Good right hand by Gabriel. Stone is firing hard jabs, looking to set up her own right hand. Clinch. Gabriel pushes out with a jab into Stone's guard, using it to vault herself away. Right hands by Gabriel on the back foot. Stone is pressuring but getting popped with quick straight right counters.

Waved off??? TKO??!?! HORRIBLE!!!

Gabriel was backing up!! atsch That moment made no sense to stop it. None of those shots had Stone in any serious trouble...and they were COUNTER punches, while Stone was coming forward applying pressure.

Gabriel was winning the round (and the fight) but even she looks confused. Stone just looks completely flabbergasted.
