Hanna Gabriel vs. Melisenda Perez II & Bryan Vazquez vs. Santos Martinez II RBR

Really, I'd have liked to know where that last set was from.

 

Wow, they did both make weight. (Gabriel 153, Perez 151)

I guess Perez is basically just a chunky welterweight.

 

Round 1

Gabriel dances off to her left, snaps a few jabs and starts working the 1-2. A right hand crashes into the face of Perez and gets a roar building. A few more right hands have Perez pushing away with her left glove and trying to find some cover. Perez not badly hurt yet but definitely losing the round and getting beaten up. Gabriel comes forward flexing her 1-2 and nearly pitches herself off balance with one last right hand at the bell.

Round 2

Gabriel gets a bit of spring in her strong legs, and then comes forward with her hard 1-2 attack. Perez clinches after taking a third flush right to the face. Gabriel circles out to the left with wide steps and stalks. Perez thrusts out a high right jab, in and out of a loose guard. Gabriel waits for one of the moments the guard loosens and blasts a quick left jab through. Perez tries to wend her way in with her left arm held out high, and gets countered. Now Perez carefully slides with her back just off the ropes and keeps her hands up in wait. Gabriel doesn't force anything.

Round 3

Gabriel jabs Perez in the face a few times, and then starts working the right hand as a lead. Not yet putting them together like she did in the 1st. Perez paws her way in with high right jabs a bit off-target. Gabriel is using her height and length to line her up with counter right leads coming in, sailing right over that jab. Perez worms her way in and starts swinging wild punches but Gabriel does some Matrix slipping before jettisoning backward. Perez lopes along after her. Big right hands from Perez now, and Gabriel pauses countering to block the frenzied attack. Perez gets some body shots in, but Gabriel pushes her away after a moment.

Closer round, still the champ's.

 

Round 4

Perez is using her bull offense, plowing in headfirst and swinging both arms around the side. Gabriel is being drawn into a bit of a slugfest, trying to hook Perez back. Rough stuff. Perez gets her in headlock. Gabriel hops on her toes while resetting. Perez goes back to pawing with her jab and Gabriel nails her with a counter left hook and right cross to the head. Noodle-armed 1-2 from Perez, dodged. Gabriel steps in with a short 1-2 to the face but doesn't get much leverage on it.

 

Round 5

Gabriel is turning and lining up right hands as Perez circles and threatens to come forward with her mauling attacks from different angles. Perez gets into the pocket and starts grappling with Perez before the ref splits them. Hard rights to the body by Gabriel. Straight power punches in bunches by Gabriel as Perez tries to swing through with her stubbier arms working like hedge-clippers. Good action for the middle part of the round. Perez leads with some high right hooks, trying to draw Gabriel into more exchanges. Gabriel is caught by a high left and clinches before the bell.

Round 6

Wild exchange! Perez clubbing away overhand as Gabriel tries to tuck up underneath her and drive her back, putting her muscular back and shoulder into Perez's breasts. Gabriel keeps trying to get space and start jabbing but Perez just hangs over her like a cloud, dropping a torrent of messy punching that has the champion uncomfortable!! Perez making a real dogfight out of it now, which is her best chance. BEAUTIFUL counter right hand lead by Gabriel shortly before the final bell. Not quite enough to steal it.

That was the first really clear one for Melisenda Perez, IMO (that third was really close, though - could have gone her way)
