i was never a fan of john ruiz. i was there at the m.e.n the night he fought david haye, ruiz was booed and jeered by eveyone, he didnt have a friend in the house. yet he came out fighting, gave it his all and just would'nt give up. a lot of people, myself included, left that night with a hell of a lot of respect for john "the quiet man" ruiz.
A fraud and a cheater, Ruiz's whole misbegotten career is a monument to boxing corruption. Without the influence of King to get him a free pass for his illegal holding and low blow faking, rankings he didn't deserve, and gift decisions he wouldn't have won, Ruiz would have been lucky to win a regional title, let alone a paper "world" title.
