Somehow I doubt it...he ballooned up in weight after he retired... He would have tried like hell, though!
he did lose enough of it to give a 26 year old muhammad ali huge welts all over his ribs and more than that a huge newfound respect from muhammad! LMAO rocky loved those meatballs! can you blame him?
Oh, true, but 85 is very old...especially for someone that took the kind of punishment he did. He was a very special human being, but I don't think he would have made it to 85.
have any of you guys hear his commentating? he was so honest and modest he was actually hilarious!!! i died laughing a couple times. the guy would have been a riot telecasting boxing in the 70s and 80s
Bad news Suzie, I'm affraid he passed some time ago. Hmmmm 85, that would make him nearly as old as some of his title defences.
Marciano was a credit to boxing in many ways. His fights gloried boxing. As a commentator, Rocky was good. Remember, he got out of the game with his marbles still intact. I have heard Maricano comment on fights, and he's pretty much on the money.
Just imagine if he had not died in the plane crash. He might still be giving interviews, comentating on fights, atending IBHOF inductions, having cameo apearances in Rocky Balboa. If not untill today then untill quite recently. Great boxer and a fine man outside the ring.
Knowing Rocky's tightness; me thinks he more likely would of been trying to get money off of Stallone for the use of the name Rocky. As well as sueing him for trying to confuse Marciano's story with Wepner's.
Lennox Lewis and Rocky Marciano share birthdays on september 2. It's how i always remember to congratulate my sister with her birthday today. :yep
Marciano alway was a large eater but ran 10-15 miles a day and worked really hard to stay lighter. I remember the day he died or around that time..I thought he was old but now I know he was young...retired with all his marbles...he was a freak of nature with his power and developed a style and conditioning that was unbeatable ...guy had a Will to Win
