You know I have always loved boxing and other sports and appreciate what athletes do to get themselves in shape and everything. But I don't get the recent circle jerk threads that pop up now showing pictures of some fighters and guys drooling over them and talking about how dedicated some guys are.

First of all, the big time fighters make more in one fight then many hard working average Americans will make in a lifetime. These men are paid to fight and stay in shape. To me, it takes much more dedication for a family man or woman to put in 8 or more hours a day at a job and then still make time to hit the gym up and raise a family with the money concerns and job concerns most Americans have now. I mean, if I was getting paid 40 million for one fight, I would definitely be in the gym everyday. Hell, I'm almost 30 and have kept myself in shape and only way about 20 more pounds then I did when I was 18 and it's just muscle gain. Would anyone look at pics of me and say "hard work and dedication?" Not likely. But I stay in shape between working swing shifts, long hours, and the other countless day to day problems people that aren't filthy rich have to face.

It's actually sad how some fighters show up on fight night. Imo, your getting paid an insane amount of money and if you show up fat and overweight then it is a slap in the face to every fan that pays or watches your fight. I respect and appreciate the physicality of the sport and the risks these men face to go to war but I just don't get the drooling people do over filthy rich men who are paid insane amounts of money and have all the time in the world to get in shape. Maybe it's just me.

Hard work and dedication...because they're at the very top of their craft. In another walk of life, with the same 'concentration' of their performance output, someone like Mayweather would be a top chess master or a top scientist.

It all depends really, someone who's starting up a business may be putting in more hard work and dedication than someone like Floyd.

Why don't you find a website that focuses on praising average joes then.

what do you do for a living?
having you ever boxed b4? I think most men would beg to differ that being a family man is much easier than being a world champion boxer. just look at the numbers

the world has about 3 billion daddys (please correct me if i am wrong)
how many world class boxers are there?

This is where is disagree. Fighters like Mayweather, Jones Jr, Bhop, Pacquiao, Marquez, Tyson, Wlad, Vitaly, and many others are born to fight. You could take any number of people and put them in a gym for years and years traing but they won't have that natural instinct that these men have in the ring. They got that natural ability that can be fine tuned with hard work. Mayweather as a scientist....no.

Again, I still don't get why people worship these men for their bodies? Hard work and dedication? There are average joes who don't have millions of dollars and get paid to stay in shape but have just as good a body. I love the craft and their brilliance in the ring. That's a given. But I'm not going to worship their abs when there is no reason they shouldn't be in shape.

:patsch Their 'specialisation' level is great, that's the point I'm getting at.
What got them through those years to reach to that top level is hard work and dedication otherwise they could have been a pretty rubbish boxer.

Because so many fighters slack off these days so seeing floyd stay in shape year round is a refreshing taste of back in the day when fighters took the craft seriously.

I understand where your coming from.

But i think your forgetting Floyd puts his life at risk in the ring. He fights. He steps into the ring and has a fight with another man in front of millions of people. He done this over and over again at the very top of the sport. Hes the number 1 rated boxer in the whole world.

Think about that. How many boxers are there in the world. He has worked super super hard to achieve that. He has been doing it for over 20 years.

While his friends were chasing women and drinking at partys. He was training and he was aiming for that goal. He reached it. Its very impressive that even now he still has that drive to go to the gym and that drive to still be best

I appreciate and respect what they do in the ring, don't get me wrong. They risk their lives and that is to be respected. However, these people that drool over pics of their fighters is absurd. Showing a picture of Floyd on a scale and saying hard work and dedication while jacking off over his shoulders is strange. You don't truly see the hard work and dedication till fight night when they are in the rind displaying their skills. And for anyone that thinks Floyd is the best just because of hard work and dedication, you don't know ****. He has a natural gift. If you think that he is the only boxer that gives it 110% then your wrong. Their are other fighters that work just as hard or harder but will never have the natural ability of someone like Jones Jr, Floyd, or many others. Again, I love the in ring ability. But drooling over a mans body when he is making millions to stay in the gym is crazy

I don't buy the hard work and dedication thing either. Boxers get **** loads of time off. Keeping in shape after a fight and before a proper training camp doesn't seem like real work to me. Lots of people keep in shape while working 40+ hours a week and taking care of their family. That's harder work

We live in a world where the majority of people worship an entity(God) that they can't see, hear, smell, taste or touch, and that there is exactly zero proof that this entity even exists, and the TS is wondering why anyone would worship an actual person that clearly does exists and posseses a highly specialized skillset that they utilize in a sporting event that said person highly enjoys. The simple answer is that it's called human nature. If people are willing to put an entity that they have zero proof is even real on a pedestal, than anyone can be put on a pedestal.

Good lord. I admire a boxers skills, as I've said numerous times. I just find it ammusing people jack off too pics of half naked men and say that's what hard work and dedication get you. Nevermind the fact that plenty of people look like that and don't get paid millions of dollars or were born with the natural ability to get paid millions of dollars to stay in shape.
