Because they're getting paid a ton of money to do their job doesn't mean their work ethic shouldn't be appreciated. They're still putting in a ton of time in the gym and going through the grind when they really don't need it. Someone like Floyd is financially set for life yet he still trains like he's a prospect. I don't undermine other hard workers; I appreciate them too. It's just that since we're on a boxing forum it's nice to be inspired guys who put in a ton of time in the gym and don't rely solely on their talent to carry them.

  3. I box at novice level, work a hard job, look after my kids and train hard 6 times a week just to be a averagely rubbish boxer

Boxings very very hard to get to their level not only shows incredible mental and physical toughness but huge desire, discipline and almost complete absence of anything other in their life
You can still have all that and not enough skill as you have to be exceptional

General life is tough of course but to be an elite boxer is a phenomenal undertaking

The biggest skill a boxer can have is mental and physical toughness. Every box trainer will say this! Not many humans can take big punishment without to freak out or without losing theire confidence or sticking to theire boxing.
I see many many amateurs or young pros who just cant handel the fact that they get hard shots to the face! They just cant handle it. It is not because they have bad boxing skills. Just because they cant handle it mentally.
Boxing is one of the hardest sports in the world. and everybody who box himslef knows this.
**** even at low level you need to a lot of work and time for boxing! At my gym 4-5 days training per week are a must have in order to be able to fight at tournaments. Where in football you can train two times a week and then have a good game at the weekend. This is not possible in boxing.

I don't know about where you are from but where i am, the cops don't put their live at risk everyday. THey will let your whole family die before they will show up in a timely manner.

3 months ago, someone broke into my friend's house and robbed his mom with a knife and smack her around to get the money. As soon as he left, she called the cops and it took them 30 mins to arrive. 30 mins! If the robber chooses to come back you are already dead. Before they put their "lives" at risk, they have to call for backups, suit up in their bullet proof armor. Big of cowardly pussies.

THey don't hesitate to give you a speed ticket. Also they tried to give me a ticket for glitching head light that i got.

    To sum this thread up:

Being not a fatass, having some kids, and working a 9-5 job is harder work than being the best boxer on the planet.

You don't "love" Boxing. You are a natural born hater.

You are an idiot. What fighters get paid 40 million? Yeah. Champions. Fighters that have a couple of hundred amateur fights, 20-30 some odd pro fights as a child against grown ass men, and are now old at the peak of their careers. The culmination of a lifetime of work. After which his income will reduce DRAMATICALLY. As far as problems go, he faces the exact same problems you do, but on a different scale. Look up what Journeymen make. Your 9-5 equivalent of fighters.

It isn't "sad". What you are seeing is the TRUTH. Boxing (and fighting in general) is probably the hardest way to make a buck. Fighting is the easy part. The hard part is the training. Day in. Day out. Body aching. Mentally draining. Training. Even tough men can't hack it. All for a guy to punch you in the face.

You want to complain? Go complain about a Banker or a CEO. They are the reason your wages aren't crap. No, you pick the Boxer. The guy getting his brains scrambled for your entertainment. No it isn't just you. There are lots of haters like you around. There are many songs dedicated to people like you.

That's the thing. With the motivation of money and fame working hard and dedication follows. But without the natural gift that Floyd has johnny can work hard all he can but he will not be a Floyd Mayweather.

What OP is saying is simple, it's they're job to stay in shape for their own sake.

It's like heavily praising a 5-star chef for keeping himself in working in the kitchen when he's paid to do that.
