Which one of today's super heavyweights with their advanced training, superior size and super human evolution throw a harder left hook than prime versions of David Tua or Mike Tyson?

Also which one of today's heavyweights throw a harder straight right hand than Lennox Lewis?

My guess is that based on the supposedly amazing evolution of the human body, we should be able to name at least 10 guys with harder left hooks than Tua and 10 guys with harder straight right hands than Lewis?

I'm not sure this question is asked in good faith, but like a lot of things there is no clear measure on "harder punches" it's not like sprinting where there is a clear time to compare against.

The other thing to consider is that more advanced sport science doesn't provide for thicker skulls or more cushioned brains (yet). Fighters fight less often and do less hard sparring these days meaning their brains etc are more protected than back in the day.

So the answer could very well be that many of today's top heavyweights hit harder than in the past, or it could be that none do (bar Wilder and ill die on that hill) we just can't tell or measure in any real way.

Bit of a loaded question tbh. Are you trying to manufacture a consensus?

None. I don’t believe most of ESB members watch any boxing pre 2000.

If we're talking left hooks, then how about one of yesterday's super heavy weights:......6'6" 235lb Gerry Cooney?

I'll be the one: Out of the modern shws, Wlad had a murderous left hook. When it connected it was night night most of the times

Wlad had a great left hook and a legendary straight right. According to Emanuel Steward his straight right was more powerful than Lewis' and according to Freddie Roach, his left hook was more powerful than Tyson's.

Heavyweights may be heavier, taller a stronger but that don’t mean in a boxing match that they would definitely hitting harder. It ain’t just strength. It’s speed, timing an even natural ability if you want to include that.plus being bigger an heavier means you more than likely a lot slower.

I think something very important there is always left out of this equations, is the hability to counter, find the perfect spot, caught someone off guard, Wladimir was a terrible counter, hence why he hit hard, but a lot of fighters eat those punches and survive for most of the night or all of it, he being afraid of being ko'd didn't help either.
A hard punch in between a foe's punch and you don't need anything else.

Easy -- for pure power? Wlad. He's in the running for greatest left hook and greatest straight right.

Although I'd bet Zhang's right hook and straight left are on par there.

I am not sure. Zhang seems very heavy handed with the right.

Zhang's right hook is very heavy. Joshua and Dubois when they throw their weight into shots seem to pack a wallop on their rights. Wardley's combinations are very explosive. Whyte's left hook back in the day was pretty vicious, and Wilder's right of course.

Today's human evolution is counteracted by the extreme PED use of the 90's, so it's a tough comparison imo
