The fight with Benn could have argueably been stopped in the first round. Gerald hurt everyone. He was knocking guys out in the gym like Tyson used to. He was a monster puncher, and opposition really has nothing to do with evaluating that.

Yeah because he was wrong about Evander Holyfield, Julio Cesar Chavez, Lennox Lewis, Tommy Hearns, Wlad K, and Mike Mcallum, who he wasnt affiliated with later on. He may not be right everytime, but his track record speaks for itself. Not only has he developed great fighters, but he is a master fight planner and yes, he knows more than you ever will.

Maybe he didnt...but he also said that about Breland, Lewis and Octavio Lara for christs sake...Probably more.. Basically any good fighter he has had some connection with is the greatest thing since slice bread...He is full of hot air and has always been.

Just because a guy is extremely talented doesnt mean he fufills his potential. Thats the oldest story in boxing.

Not to mention Benn suffered brain injuries, a broken jaw, busted kidneys amongst other injuries. He said McClellan's power was more devastating than a time someone hit him full force in the face with a pick axe

I'm not assuming that cause Tito fought better fighers at 147 that he was a harder puncher, but it has to be taken into account cause better fighters are harder to kayo. And Trinidad's comp at 147 is better than G-Man comp at 160 by a very significant margin.

What a mythical creature this McClellan has become

Nah he hit bloody hard though...I do believe Benn was cleared of a broken jaw but his fans ran with it to make appear more 'ard.

I understand that but its not like Gerald wasnt putting down the better fighters he did face. Benn was a durable guy, and Mclellan nearly took his head off in the first round. If that fight would have been stopped after Benn was knocked through the ropes, noone would have argued it.

A long list of injuries were listed in a paper a day or 2 after the fight. Benn himself said he was never the same and carried injuries into subsequent fights. A few years ago he said he was better condition now after the rest than he was right after the fight.

As a lad Benn would always go looking for fights asking anyone for a brawl, he'd deliberately goto racist areas to kick off with skinhead neo nazis. His dad/uncle worried he would goto prison signed him up for the army to give him discipline

I think its clear he hit Benn very hard. The bottom line is he didnt fufill his full potential. He went the gangster route. Don King did a number on the guy with his ghetto influence, and Mclellan was not a disciplined fighter. That's pretty well documented.

Tito didnt KO anyone as good as Julian Jackson imo maybe Vargas but I think Jackson would smash Vargas and Tito too for that matter

Well you would think so. ;)

Nah Im sticking to my guns with this one...Ill have to dig up the article but it was mostly detailing the injuries that McClellan had suffered and was quoting the doctors. Then it mentioned that Benn had went to hospital and gotten x-rays for a suspected broken jaw but was cleared.

I bet that paper was the Sun wasnt it?

Well mentioning Tito's win over Vargas is insignificant here as well as mentioning fantasy match-ups with Jackson vs Tito/Vargas cause they all would/did take place at 154.

But I do agree that Tito didn't kayo anyone at 147 as good as Julian Jackson. But my competition argument kind of proves the point when looking at G-Man vs Jackson, when G-Man did fight an elite he went more rounds and didn't look as explosive, and if not for for the headbutt in round 3 or 4 that fight in my opinion would have gone on longer cause the headbutt did seem to effect Jackson a lot.

In his prime certainly but that version wasnt quite prime Jackson.

The extra poundage and eye issues didnt help him by the time the G-Man train came along.

Tito's depth of opposition is definitely better and he showed his power was consistently devastating against them. That what Benny is saying and it is a good argument for Tito getting the nod here.
