It was a 1-2 from Tyson, but it was a short punch. Hard yes, but nowhere near the hardest he ever threw.

 

Of course Wilder punches extremely hard absolute - no argument - but he also throws and lands a lot of punches behind the ear and to the back of the head - where applicable, that should be accounted for when gaging his power based upon effect.

Such punches are illegal for obvious reasons - ironic that Deontay complained that Fury hit him on the back of the head - which Fury did do.

At any rate, Deontay’s complaint indicates that he clearly appreciates that such punches are in fact illegal and would also understand the increased effect and danger of same - IMO, Wilder himself has landed far too many of his own in a number of fights for it to be washed as a random, accidental breach.

As such, it appears that he actually appears to deliberately target those areas at times - particularly when legal scoring areas of the head are otherwise not available to him.

Some might put it down to simply being reckless but it still doesn’t excuse same or lessen the enhanced effect of an already powerful punch.

 

Within 1-2 sec period, it was an isolated, single right hook that KO’d Larry. Big punch. Mike had swung a right hook just prior but it missed.

The punch that yielded the first KD was also a big punch. Caught Larry on the left temple - equilibrium screwed. Had it been that bit lower on the chin, it might’ve been all over for Holmes right then and there.
