The problem is shavers is a first tier puncher with third tier boxing ability similar to deontay wilder. But numerous people that fought shavers claim hes the hardest hitter they've ever fought.

I imagine George hit harder than Shavers given all the guys who Shavers couldn't knock out. But there were any number of guys who went the distance with George who had no business doing so.

Wilder is the best puncher ever, IMO. I watched Shavers in the late 70s/early 80s (and earlier fights on video), and George in the late 70s and during his comeback (and earlier fights on video). I never saw anyone knock out people like Wilder does.

If Wilder had never won a WBC belt, if Stiverne didn't have it at the time, and Wilder fought and KOed all the same guys, I think people around here would be praising him like they praise the Black Dynamite guys during the Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey and Jack Johnson reigns.

Look at all the praise Shavers gets and he never won anything. If guys like Bob Stallings decisioned Wilder, like he did Shavers, think anyone would be heaping praise on Wilder?

If it's just about pure power, I'd have Wilder #1. Foreman #2. Foreman knocked out bigger names, but he also went the distance with lesser people who had no business hearing the final bell.

I feel like I'm trapped in a staredown with that photo. (LOL) Either that, or I just told him my chicken is undercooked and he knows Gordon Ramsey is back in the kitchen waiting to scream at him.

Foreman. Holyfield, who fought both Tyson and Foreman, said Foreman hit harder.

Wladimir Klitschko and Foreman's shots always seemed to have that novocaine effect where you feel that you're alright but by the time you come to your senses Larry Merchant's interviewing you.

I know one thing, Foreman could hurt and totally stun a durable Heavyweight with a straight arm punch to the chest, or anywhere else, with no load up. There weren't many who could do that. I can't think of anybody with more power.

Difficult to gauge Wilder since his record is packed with C and B level fighters.

Earnie Shavers is pillowfisted compared to your average modern heavyweight Journeyman nowadays. He probably doesn't even hit as hard as Fury tbh. He's 210 pounds and never KO'd a big man. Wladimir hits the hardest. 6'6, 245 pounds, and his punches possessed one hit KO force in his prime. This is power at the highest level.
