Hardest hitting heavyweights of all time here's a nice list

He's KO'd nothng but bums, and he's taken his time about it too. WALDO doesn't belong on this list, he's a glass jawed joke.

 

Iron Mike.. Explosivness and speed should count for something when talking about the hardest puncher.

 

We know Tyson had to take prolonged, savage beatings before succumbing by stoppage in all his losses by knockout, so the power of Douglas thing is out the window. He could have had less power and still knocked Tyson out that night with the beating he put on him...

I also hesitate to say Quarry was better; definitely more consistent and a more dedicated fighter, better performer, but that night in Tokyo, Douglas was very impressive. Even if it was for one night only.

An interesting fact about Joe Louis.

At 6' 1", his average weight for fights was 202.

Of his 69 bouts, he was the heavier fighter in 53 of them.
Only (16) of his opponents were heavier than him, and several were only
2 lbs. heavier.

He did Knock-out alot of smaller guys.

 

Carnera was 6'6" 260lbs or so... That's a super heavy dimenisons...

And who did the other punchers on the list fight that were of similar dimensions of the "modern super heavyweight"?

Did Foreman fight anyone bigger than himself?
Shavers?

If they did, it wasn't with more frequency than Louis....

 

You could say the same for most, if not all, the other guys on this list...

Right. My point is that these guys didn't fight more "super heavy" type opponents than Louis...

 

And Scaff, by the way, was a complete bum... I'm sure most heavyweights, even the not-so-hard-hitting, could break the face of the average 250 lb guy... Give me a break.

 

That is true, but Larry stayed active during that time. The two years after the Spinks fights Larry said he didn't want anything to do with boxing. Ran occasionally but rarely anything else.
