Totally agree .. Mugabi was a monster puncher at 154, brutal .. then took the rushed fight against Hagler, left it all in the ring and was never the same .. instead of coming back being rebuilt fight over his head and was done ..

Feats and power don't automatically go hand in hand. Tito was more rounded than Mugabi.

No, but unless you have some magic device for detecting power, Mugabi hasn't proven his power anything like the confirmed "MASSIVE" punchers from history.

I'd like to see someone put some work in and collect the quotes rather than repeat the Marvin line. There must be people out there that provide overwhelming evidence for his having been a huge puncher despite the fact that he didn't crack any elite chins - and in fact, that when he was faced with a serious opponent, he tended not just to fail miserably in knocking them out, but rather lost.

Maybe the evidence for his huge punching is out there, and I would like to see it - but I haven't, in 15 years on here.

Point is, Mugabi used raw power like Shavers. More rounded fighters use accuracy/timing and are usually much better finishers.

    Yes I understand that point.

My point is that when these claims are made on behalf Shavers, it is accompanied by reams of testimonial evidence, not just a KO%. I've never seen this for Mugabi because a) it doesn't exist because he wasn't in that company as a puncher or b) more likely, nobody has done the work.

Either way, I preach caution, because the man just didn't breach many quality chins. He just didn't knock out quality opponents with good punch resistance. That did not happen very often.

The same is true of Deontay Wilder, but the people he did knockout, almost universally name him the hardest puncher they've met - by distance. So that's case closed.

But the best proofs are guys like Bob Foster - who vanquished numerous amounts of high quality chins. That's the most proven type of puncher.
