Who wins? I was debating with a dude and he said Harold wasn't more skilled than Bivol...which I don't believe is real. Harold was multi-faceted,could box,had power and had good infighting skills, that's the thing he had over Bivol. Again, who wins and how?
Harold is “stiff” but he was just better in every way, I’d be interested to see how he’d have done at HW with Liston as was planned, lot better boxer then pretty much every heavy of the era, I don’t see a path to victory for Bivol, Bivol is an amateur an Olympian type fighting as a pro, Harold was a real pro.
I agree, while he may be stiff,he had good knowledge and perhaps more crafty than Bivol. His match with Liston...best he could get was an upset SD win,I mean Eddie Machen got Liston in troubles for their fight, and knowing Harold could beat Machen at an advanced age too...
I believe it, I don’t rate Liston highly at all, I rate Harold as a top boxer and could see him winning. I could actually see fighters like Conn, Charles and Moore toying with Liston.
I didn't answer the question in my first post. I would take Harold without hesitation in this match up
Harold Johnson and quite clearly. Bivol is a great skillful boxer in his own right but Johnson was just on a higher level. Johnson may not look as flashy or swift but he was a supreme boxing technician who would have out pointed Bivol. A nice chess match but a fight that favors Johnson.
